Beijing, February 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ren Ziwei, who has two golds in hand, was ruled foul and excluded from the third gold medal in the semifinals of the short track speed skating men's 1500 meters at the Beijing Winter Olympics on the evening of the 9th.

In the men's 1500m quarterfinals of the day, Ren Ziwei, who had previously won the mixed team relay and the men's 1000m gold medal, advanced as the first in the group, and the other two Chinese players, Sun Long and Zhang Tianyi, were eliminated. In the third group of the semi-finals, Ren Ziwei crossed the finish line for the third time. Subsequently, the referee on duty determined that when Kazakh Galyakhmetov tried to surpass Ren Ziwei, Ren Ziwei had an arm to block the action, so he was cancelled and missed the final.

Ren Ziwei said after the game that he thought that the collision with the South Korean player would cause a foul, but he did not expect that the collision with the Kazakh player was judged to be fouled. He admitted that the game himself "has more ideas and a bit of a heavy burden".

In the women's 1000m preliminaries held on the same day, the three Chinese players Han Yutong, Qu Chunyu and Zhang Chutong successfully advanced. In the first semi-final of the women's 3000m relay, the Chinese team ranked second, and joined hands with the Dutch team that won the first place to advance to the final.
