Xi'an will resume weekday tail number restrictions on February 16 to alleviate road traffic congestion

Recently, we learned from relevant channels that in order to alleviate road traffic congestion, after consultation with the Traffic Management Bureau of Xi'an Municipal Public Security Bureau, Xi'an Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment, and Xi'an Municipal Transportation Bureau, and reported to the municipal government for approval, Xi'an City will resume the traffic management measures for motor vehicle tail number restrictions on weekdays on February 16 (Wednesday).

On December 20, 2021, Xi'an City suspended the implementation of the tail number restriction measures for motor vehicles according to the needs of epidemic prevention and control. At present, as Xi'an has fully entered the normalization stage of epidemic prevention and control, and the traffic flow in the city has steadily rebounded after the Spring Festival holiday, in order to alleviate road traffic congestion, traffic management measures will be restored on February 16.

It is reported that from January 28-29, 2022, the traffic flow in Xi'an has exceeded the same period last year, of which the traffic flow of Lianhu, Jingkai, Qujiang and other regions has reached more than 108% last year. By February 6-7, the third grade of junior high school and high school in Xi'an had begun, and the traffic flow in the city had returned to normal levels, and on February 10, the city's traffic flow had reached more than 101.1% of the normal traffic before the epidemic.
