"The bridge we've been waiting for for is finally open!" For Diop, a resident of Fangjuni, Senegal, the happiest thing in the New Year is the official opening of the Fangjuni Bridge.

A few days ago, after more than three years of intense construction, the Fangjuni Bridge in Senegal was officially opened. This project is one of the priority major projects in the "Senegal Revitalization Plan" and a concrete embodiment of China's active implementation of the "Ten Major Cooperation Plans" between China and Africa.

The Fangjuni Bridge is located in Fangjuni City, Fangjuni Province, Fatik Region, Senegal, and crosses the Salum River. Before the bridge was built, people needed to take canoes to cross the river, and vehicles had to wait at least 1 hour to cross the river before they could squeeze into a very small mixed ship, which was extremely inconvenient for people and goods to travel.

"Before the opening of the bridge, it was very inconvenient for us to cross the river, and the completion of the bridge greatly shortened the commuting time." Diop told reporters.

Looking at the bridge opened in front of him, Ndiaye, assistant to the governor of Fangjuni Province, was deeply touched: "In the past, it took at least an hour to an hour to cross the river by ferry, but now you can cross the bridge in a few minutes." The bridge really brings convenience and saves us a lot of time. ”

Chen Xuren, manager of the Fangjuni Bridge Project Department of Wuhan Company of China Railway Seventh Bureau, introduced that the riverbed of the Salum River is geologically complex, and many technical problems have been encountered in the construction of deep foundation pits of bridge piers. In addition, the bridge is located in a high temperature area, and the temperature is often above 45 degrees Celsius during the daytime construction. In the face of various difficulties, Chinese employees have faced difficulties and solved one problem after another.

With the opening of the bridge, the "difficulty of crossing the river" has become a thing of the past for local residents. As the longest bridge in Senegal, the Fangjuni Bridge has become one of the main roads connecting Senegal to the north and south, and an important transportation node to neighboring countries. Ndiaye said that the bridge is not only of great significance to Senegal, but also a perfect interpretation of China-Africa friendship and cooperation.
