The Beijing Winter Olympics are in full swing, and snow sports have received unprecedented attention. Seeing the athletes' healthy posture and doing various difficult moves on the snow, many novices are also eager to try. But while trying your hand, don't forget your true level.
As a stimulating, challenging sport, skiing has a certain danger, a little attention may be injured, the end of the slope is not necessarily flowers and applause, it may also be orthopedics, sports medicine, rehabilitation...
Skiing as you imagine

Actually skiing
Surveys show that the incidence of moderate injuries caused by ice and snow sports on the mainland is about 25% to 35%. Alpine skiing injuries are mostly ligament injuries, abrasions, contusions and fractures, which account for 75.16% of the total number of alpine skiing injuries. Among them, ligament injuries and contusions accounted for 49.65% of the total injuries, while abrasions and fractures accounted for 25.51% of the total injuries.
Some snow friends summarized the fracture sites of the injured snow friends, including themselves.
Skiing is a sport that tests comprehensive ability, requiring sufficient strength, speed, technique, cardiopulmonary function, limb coordination, flexibility, sensitivity, mental state... Failure to meet the standards can lead to disaster. Excessive nervousness about the psychology of nature, insufficient anticipation of dangerous actions, and lack of concentration can lead to serious consequences.
The Winter Olympics will be wonderful, and the competition will be very hot, but everyone still has to be calm. When we ski, we have to do the following precautions.
01
Learn to fall
It is inevitable to fall during the skiing process, and sometimes it is even necessary to actively fall down to reduce the speed to avoid greater damage, and the correct fall posture can avoid injury to the greatest extent.
We need to pay attention to falling sideways rather than forward and backward as much as possible, which can reduce the anteroposterior and rotational positions between the calves and thighs during the fall to protect the ligaments.
If you really can't control the body to fall to the side, when you fall forward, you should use your elbow to touch the ground to make the elbow joint bear more force; when you fall backwards, you should extend your hands forward, the elbow joint should be extended backwards, and at the same time retract your arms, curl your body and roll to reduce the impact.
02
Warm up thoroughly
Warm up before exercise to prevent muscle strains, spasms and sprains during exercise.
Do a good job of personal protection, equipped with professional protective gear, master the essentials of standardized movements, and familiarize yourself with the venue and environment in advance. Warm up fully before exercise, increase the range of movement of muscles, keep the body in a state of movement, and react quickly in case of emergency to avoid injury.
03
Wear full protective gear
When choosing ski equipment, skis, snowshoes, retainers and poles are all necessities. The snowboard for beginners on two boards should not be too short, but also not longer than the height. For lovers who plan to ski for a long time, it is best to specially configure a full set of skating equipment that suits them. Suitable taxiing equipment is also a guarantee for taxiing safety. Ski equipment includes helmets, snow goggles, masks, wrist pads, gloves, knee pads, hip pads, etc. from head to toe.
04
Prevents frostbite
Frostbite is most likely to occur when skiing, and in severe cases, skin erosion and ulceration may occur in the affected area, and it is not easy to cure, and it will occur repeatedly in winter. When skiing in winter, bring cold equipment such as hats, bibs, and gloves. At the same time, tighten gloves, clothes, pants cuffs, and cuffs to prevent wind and snow from invading the clothes. When skiing, eye masks should be worn to prevent cornea frostbite.
05
Prevent eye injuries
The reflection of the snow is very strong, and if the eyes are completely naked when skiing, snow blindness is easy to occur. It is best to have professional ski glasses. If you have symptoms of snow blindness, do not rub your eyes with your hands, wash your eyes with purified water or eye drops, then cover your eyes with soft medical cotton yarn and rest with your eyes closed.
06
Masters should also guard against danger
When skiing, the "masters" of the snow field should also be vigilant.
Intermediate skiers who have mastered conventional techniques should pay attention to increasing physical training in normal times, especially lower limb strength training. The data shows that 60% of serious ski injuries occur in the knee joint, such as cruciate ligament injuries and meniscus injuries. These injuries can have an irreversible effect on the knee joint, and the muscle strength of the lower limbs can be greatly avoided.
Snow "masters" should also pay attention. Although there is no problem with the skills, physical fitness and experience of the "master", it is necessary to pay special attention to sports injuries caused by external factors, such as the large number of skiers and the density of personnel. "Masters" should pay attention to observing the surroundings to avoid accidental collisions and injuries caused by skiers who are "not very good" with other techniques.
