Recently, the research team of the Kunming Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences confirmed the discovery of a new insect species of Yang's wasp (insect next to the fan) in Gaoligong Mountain, Yunnan. The research results were recently published in the international biological journal ZooKeys.

Researchers have recently collected many different morphologies of twisters from the two common edible wasps yellow-footed wasps and black shield wasps inhabiting gaoligong mountain, and through the use of molecular data and morphological observation, it was determined that the kudoptera parasitic in the bodies of these two wasps is the same species, and finally determined to be a new species of the genus wasp (next to the worm plus fan) after research comparison.

"The Kudoptera is a class of insects with special evolutionary status, and at present, about 30 species of kudus have been reported on the mainland." Li Xueyan, corresponding author of the paper and an associate researcher at the Kunming Institute of Zoology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that in honor of Mr. Yang Jikun, the entomologist who first studied the order Twisted Wing in the mainland, the new species was named Yang's wasp (insect side fan).

It is understood that Gaoligong Mountain is connected to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the north and the Indochina Peninsula in the south, and its geographical location is extremely important, and it is the first barrier and biodiversity treasure house for the biological ecological security of the southwest of the mainland, and is known as the "world species gene bank". The discovery of this new species shows that the rich diversity of Twisted-winged and other insect species in Yunnan, especially in Gaoligong Mountain, still needs to be explored.
