Urumqi, 10 Feb (Xinhua) -- Over the past few days, with the arrival of a new round of cold air, a desert rime landscape has appeared in the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang. In the sea of sand, the white rime hanging from the branches is like a blooming flower, which looks poetic and picturesque from a distance.

Walking into the Togai Brak Scenic Area in Kuosh Satma Township, Bazhou, Xinjiang, the endless yellow sand and the clear blue sky shine together, the poplars and reeds scattered on the sand dunes are covered with white rime, and the crystal clear rime seems to bloom on the branches of the white flowers, looking at it from a distance, as described in the poem, "Suddenly like a spring breeze in the night, thousands of trees and pear blossoms." The stunning scenery excites visitors.

Deng Xinjian, director of the Meteorological Observatory of the end county, said: "The formation of the rime is mainly due to the heavy snow weather in the southern mountains of the end county, resulting in very large air humidity in the plain area, low temperature, and small wind, in such a low temperature environment, the crystal deposits directly frozen on the object in the air form rime."
