Non-stop efforts only for a dream The post-80s CEO insists on the dream of "two cents and five cents"

Character business card

Born in January 1988. Co-founder and CEO of Hangzhou Fiberna Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. He has won many honors such as the National Innovation Talent Promotion Plan, Overseas High-level Talents and Specially Appointed Experts of Zhejiang Province, the Leader of the Leading Innovation and Entrepreneurship Team of Zhejiang Province, the "Top Ten Young Scientific and Technological Talents" of Hangzhou City, and the Star of Hangzhou New Entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurial experience

■ Scientific research work and innovation and entrepreneurship are very challenging, and they need to be more creative.

■ I really hope that through our young people's own efforts to achieve some product iterations, slowly put the core technology of some industries, the industry core standards of the formulation of the right to speak in their own hands, so that the world can see the power of Chinese youth.

■ There is no time to be complacent on the road to entrepreneurship, and always focus on research.

When Yao Jizhong, founder and CEO of Hangzhou Qianna Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., appeared in front of the reporter with a fluffy "bird's nest head", the reporter involuntarily "played" the Internet red song in his mind: "I am still the teenager from before, there is no change ..."

"The dream of 'two cents and five cents' has not changed, the hairline has not changed, and the face seems to be a little round." He joked with reporters. Founded in 2015, Fiber Nano Optoelectronics recently ushered in a great event: in August this year, the company's perovskite production line was officially launched in Quzhou. This is the first commercial perovskite production line in China. "From the lab to the production line, we didn't dare to relax for more than 5 years." Yao Jizhong said.

Every innovation

All cover the full chain

Recently, the most authoritative "Solar cell efficiency tables" in the global photovoltaic industry released the latest record: Hangzhou FiberNa Optoelectronics achieved 18.04% of the photoelectric conversion efficiency of perovskite components, and won the first place in the world efficiency record of perovskite components for the 7th time in 3 years.

When it comes to perovskites, everyone is generally still relatively unfamiliar. In fact, it is the same as the common silicon material on the market, which is used in photovoltaic power generation. As an artificial synthetic material, it was first tried to be applied to the field of photovoltaic power generation in 2009, and it shined due to its excellent performance, low cost and huge commercial value. In recent years, the world's top scientific research institutions and large multinational companies, such as Oxford University, The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Japan's Toshiba, Panasonic, etc., have invested a lot of manpower and material resources, and strive to achieve mass production as soon as possible. The young Fiber Nano Optoelectronics is a technology-based innovation company that commercializes new perovskite thin-film solar cells.

"It's said that beating yourself is the hardest, so why are you constantly breaking a world record in the field of cutting-edge competition in a short period of time?" Yao Jizhong's answer was: "We have a strong technical team. The company's core team members have graduated from the world's top institutions of higher learning in this field, and all have studied under the best tutors in the field of photovoltaics. This allowed us to aim for world leadership from the start. ”

"At present, every independent innovation of the company covers the complete chain from the underlying basic innovation to the actual commercial application." Yao Jizhong explained that perovskite materials can have hundreds of millions of permutations and combinations, and what the fiber-nano optoelectronics team did was to find the optimal combination of conversion rates in hundreds of millions of combinations, but the optimal combination was not necessarily suitable for large-scale production. During product trial production, it is often the case that the material combination is perfect but cannot be converted into a product. As a result, the technical team has to go back and reinvent the material.

In the circular innovation of new materials and preparation processes, in 2017, the technical team set a record of 3 world records in the year. "In February of that year, we broke for the first time the world efficiency record for perovskite components previously held by Japan with a conversion efficiency of 15.2 percent. I still remember the excitement of the team when they took the courier apart and saw the test report. Yan Buyi still remembers that the team went to eat a hot pot together to celebrate that day.

Keep working hard

Just for a dream

"After working so hard for so long, we have a dream." Yao Jizhong excitedly listed a set of data for reporters: the average on-grid price of traditional thermal power is about 0.4 yuan to 0.5 yuan / kWh, the price of hydropower is 0.26 yuan to 0.28 yuan / kWh, and perovskite solar modules can be expected to achieve photovoltaic electricity prices of about 0.25 yuan / kWh in the future. "That's our two-cent-five' dream." Up to now, FiberNa Optoelectronics has applied for more than 160 intellectual property patents worldwide in the fields of perovskite solar cell research and development, advanced semiconductor production equipment and thin-film photovoltaic testing equipment.

The reporter and Yao Jizhong came to the production base in Quzhou. "The recent production is very critical, and I will take a look at it." He said. Along the way, the reporter asked curiously: "What is the most difficult thing from the laboratory to the production line landing?" How did you overcome it? ”

"From small-area perovskite batteries in the laboratory to commercialized large-area perovskite modules, production process transformation is the most difficult problem to solve. We have repeatedly tried to introduce high-performance interface modification materials to improve the efficiency and stability of commercial perovskite modules. During the conversation, two shallow dimples were revealed under the pair of black-rimmed glasses, which appeared and disappeared again and again, as if they were filled with too much sour, sweet and bitter.

The reporter followed Yao Jizhong to the production workshop, only to see pieces of thin-film photovoltaic modules printed with perovskite solutions, fishing out of the production line.

Prove it over and over again

Things that others don't believe

"As a new thing, how perovskite thin-film solar cells occupy a place in the energy market is a commercialization problem that we are currently working on." Yao Jizhong's eyes were full of determination, "The smooth completion of the production line is only the first step of the long march, and the next road is still very long, but the choice must be adhered to, not afraid of wind and rain." ”

He still remembers that after being admitted to the School of Information of Zhejiang University in 2006, after a year of free course study, he found the direction he was most interested in - photoelectronics and microelectronics. Out of the "emotion" of the figurative structure of semiconductor materials, he chose the Department of Optoelectronics in his second year of university, and went to the Photovoltaic Institute of New South Wales in Australia in 2008 to focus on photovoltaics, and since then he has been inseparable from photovoltaic power generation.

5 years ago, when he graduated from the Department of Physics at Imperial College London, England, and was ready to return to China to cooperate with enterprises to promote perovskite from laboratory to application scenario, he did not expect to touch a nose of ash. "At that time, almost no one in China was optimistic about this direction." Yao Jizhong told reporters. Despite this, it has not shaken his confidence in the application of perovskite technology. "What we are doing is something that has no precedent to follow, and at present, the company's conversion efficiency of both perovskite small components and large components is the first in the world, and the stability is also leading the world." Together with the team, I have repeatedly proven things that others have not believed. He said.

Today, Yao Jizhong led the team to transfer the perovskite technology from the laboratory to the application scenario, taking the first step. In quzhou's landscape belt along the river, a wharf operation house wrapped in light gray power generation glass has been normally connected to the grid before the Spring Festival this year. Yao Jizhong revealed that the current conversion efficiency of fiber nano perovskite cells is 18.04%, and the conversion efficiency can even reach more than 30% after superimposing with crystalline silicon solar photovoltaic panels in the next step. "I believe time will tell." Yao Jizhong said.
