Liang Tao | the politicization of Renxue and the politicization of Renxue- Xunzi Renyi Thought was slight

Abstract: In the relationship between benevolence and etiquette, Confucius has a different approach of interpreting rites with benevolence and becoming benevolent with rites. Although Xunzi formally regarded benevolence as the highest virtue and put forward the theory of benevolence from "loving others" to "self-love", it was not implemented in the heart, but was embodied in the system, and it was a politicalized renxue that developed. Xun Zi's benevolence and righteousness are biased toward righteousness, advocating "treating benevolence with righteousness" and achieving benevolence through righteousness. Xun Zi laid the foundation for Confucian etiquette by taking the inferiority as justice, but his prominence of rank, inferiority, etc., and lack of the spirit of equality, were the shortcomings of his thinking. Today's Confucianism should develop the concept of justice in which differences equal equality, and to do this, it is necessary to elevate the Confucian way of loyalty and forgiveness from a moral principle to a political principle, making it the principle and law of etiquette, so that the internal principle of benevolence and the external principle of etiquette can truly be integrated.
