More powerful

The previous generation of Dorsoduro 750 has received widespread acclaim, but compared to the excellent frame, the power output of the 750mL twin-cylinder engine is not hot enough, and in the face of the higher expectations of riders, Apulia gave the Dorsoduro 900 as the answer.

The new generation maintains a 92mm bore compared to the previous generation, but the stroke has been extended from 56.4mm to 67.4mm. This slight change increased the engine displacement by 144mL to 896.1mL. As the power heart expands, the power output naturally rises, with the maximum power increasing to 70.0 kW (8750r/min) and the maximum torque increasing to 90.0 N·m (6500 r/min), surpassing the previous generation. Apulia claims that the Dorsoduro 900 not only has a higher peak power, but in fact exceeds the Dorsoduro 750 in the full rev range, and the torque curve is flatter, making it easy for riders to accurately control the power output. In simple terms, the most direct experience of this 900mL engine for the rider is that at any speed, the power is more abundant and the acceleration is more powerful!

This V-twin has pure Apulian origin, the DOHC valve mechanism is unique, and the camshaft is driven by a hybrid chain and gear. This design, which borrows from the RSV 1000 R, not only controls the size of the engine, but also ensures the accuracy and reliability of valve timing; due to the increase in gears, the timing chain length is shortened, the pressure is reduced, and the working life is correspondingly extended. In addition, Apulia optimized the engine's internal lubrication lines, further reducing power losses due to oil churning.

Corresponding to the new engine, Apulia used the more computationally powerful Marelli 7SM electronic control unit. The electronic throttle has been redesigned to become more compact, reducing by 0.5kg compared to the previous generation and now fully embedded inside the throttle handlebar. The new electronic throttle is based on a wide range of parameters such as engine speed, gear, air volume and flow rate, throttle opening, temperature, etc., on the basis of efficient comprehensive calculation, more accurate control of the opening of oil and gas mixtures and injection valves, to ensure efficient combustion in various situations, not only the power response is refreshing, but also effectively suppress the sudden feeling of abrupt release of the throttle.

The electronic throttle gives the Dorsoduro 900 more than 900 power modes, namely Sport, Travel and Rain, which can be switched via a switch at the handlebar. These three modes are like three partners with different temperaments and temperaments, allowing you to fully appreciate the rich character of the Dorsoduro 900. Sport mode is a full power output mode, when the rider unscrews the throttle, it quickly outputs powerful power, giving you the thrill of acceleration of the momentum. The power output in travel mode is relatively smooth and smooth, suitable for long-distance roaming and daily use, creating a relaxed and comfortable journey for the rider. Rain mode is actually a power reduction mode, because the road surface is slippery when it rains, the friction coefficient between the tire and the road is reduced, so it is suitable for switching to the rain mode, which can enhance the driving safety factor.

Further improvements in safety are the new traction control system and the dual anti-lock braking system. The former offers three modes with varying sensitivities to rear wheel slippage and controls power output through ignition and oil supply until the rear wheel slip is repaired. The two-way anti-lock braking system closely monitors the Brembo braking system to prevent the wheels from locking up, helping to stabilize the body when the rider brakes violently.

More flexibility

Apulia racing cars are competitive for the World Rollercooter Championship, and one of the killer skills is the agile and efficient frame. The frame of the Dorsoduro 900 adopts a hybrid structure of steel pipe + aluminum alloy side plates, this "hybrid" frame has the advantages of light weight and strong rigidity, of which the upper frame that embraces the cylinder and connects the steering head is a slim steel tube lattice structure, and the lower frame that embraces the crankcase part is a highly rigid aluminum alloy plate, and the two are firmly locked together by high-strength bolts. For the V-twin cylinder expanded from 750mL to 900mL, Apulia engineers increased the overall rigidity of the frame accordingly to effectively harness the power.

The suspension system is also new. The front wheel is equipped with KYB 41mm inverted forks, and the long travel of 160mm is a unique setting of the trolley, which has a strong ability to digest impact and bumps, and supports riders to adopt a tough and aggressive driving style. The rear wheel of the single barrel shock absorber stroke is also 160mm, at a nearly horizontal angle side mounted to the right side of the aluminum alloy rocker arm, this installation method is not only convenient for the rider to adjust the spring preload and hydraulic rebound, but also convenient for engineers to scientifically arrange the exhaust pipe direction, while avoiding the exhaust pipe heat affecting the hydraulic oil of the rear shock absorber.
