The Beijing Winter Olympics are in full swing, and the ice hockey game has attracted everyone's attention. But it's not enough to watch the game, if you want to know about ice hockey, you also need to know this knowledge.

The ice ball is 2.5 cm thick, 7.6 cm in diameter and weighs about 170 grams. The material is hard rubber. In junior hockey matches, blue ice hockey balls weighing about 143 grams are used.

During the season, the ice hockey balls used for the game are frozen in a cooler to reduce their elasticity to prevent unstable routes and bounces after hitting. The use and cooling of ice hockey balls is rotated, and the priority must be the one with the longest cooling time. During the game, ice hockeys and spare ice balls are stored in ice packs and placed in the official seats.

According to the requirements of the International Ice Federation, the size of the ice rink is 60 meters long and 26 meters wide, which is almost the size of 5 badminton courts.

The ice hockey rink is divided into several parts by a white line, including the defensive zone, the offensive zone and the neutral zone (the neutral zone is between the offensive zone and the defensive zone). In addition, there are 9 scrambling points on the ice, and the referees on the court can only compete for the ball on these 9 scrambling points to start the game.

Hockey players are required to wear full-body protective equipment before playing, including crash helmets, metal or plexiglass masks, teeth guards, shoulder pads, elbow pads, protective gloves, belts, thick padded shorts, crotch guards, calf guards, and protective skates. All of these fixtures are mandatory and are not allowed to be reduced.

The goalkeeper covers about half of the goal, and he or she is the focus of the hockey, so extra protection is required, in addition to the aforementioned equipment, chest protectors, leg and elbow guards, catch gloves and extraordinarily reinforced masks.

The speed of ice hockey is very fast, when the athlete hits with full force, the speed of the ball can often reach 160 km / h, and some excellent players can play a high ball speed of 180 km / h, so that the audience often has to find the ball through the player's movements.

Contest Rules

Regular hockey playing time consists of 3 innings of 20 minutes each, excluding the time of suspension, with a 15-minute break in each innings. Scoring a goal scores 1 point, and the one who scores the most points wins. If the winner or loser is still not divided in 3 rounds, extra time (5/10/20 minutes) is played, and the team that scores first wins. When neither side scores in extra time, the penalty is used to determine the winner.

It is worth noting that the ice hockey field play lasts 60 minutes and is divided into three sets, each of which is 20 minutes of time and a break of 15 minutes between rounds. Each team can have 20 players per game, and 6 players play last, including 1 goalkeeper. Due to the fast gliding speed of ice hockey players and the "reasonable collision" of the players who control the ball with shoulders, chests and arms, the competition on the field is fierce and the physical exertion is very large, so it takes a minute or even tens of seconds to change the players on the field. The substituted player does not have to wait for the game to stop, nor does he have to be allowed by the referee, he can go up and down at will during the game, as long as the off-field player is out of the ice and the play area, the replacement team member can play. Men's hockey games allow reasonable body collisions, and women's ice hockey games do not allow body collisions.
