The "Meet in Beijing" Olympic Cultural Festival Chinese Treasure Exhibition was held

Recently, the "Meet in Beijing" Olympic Cultural Festival opened in Beijing. Hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the State Administration of Radio and Television, the Beijing Municipal People's Government, and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee, the "Meet in Beijing" Olympic Cultural Festival is a key cultural event during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

Chen Yushu, chairman of the Four Gentlemen Art Center, was invited to create a work "Heaven and Earth" for the Winter Olympics. Chen Yushu introduced that the original intention of the design of "Heaven and Earth" was to let people feel the Olympic spirit and strength contained in classical art in the Olympic atmosphere. "The Olympic Games is not only a global arena and a sports event, but also a world stage and cultural feast. When I had the idea of creating classical furniture to pay tribute to the Beijing Winter Olympics, I have been thinking about how to create, integrate China's gentleman's culture, enterprising spirit, and hard-working self-confidence into the design, and present it in the form of the tenon structure and sandalwood carving technique of Chinese classical furniture, which is the source of inspiration for me to create "Heaven and Earth". Chen Yushu explained.

The backrest of "Heaven and Earth" is carved with the images of plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum; plum, orchid, bamboo and chrysanthemum are also known as the four gentlemen in the flower, which means very beautiful. "The fragrance of plum blossoms comes from the bitter cold, and the sword blade comes out of the grinding." Plum blossoms are proud of the snow and frost, dare to struggle, and represent the Olympic belief of indomitability, fearlessness, perseverance and never giving up; "Thousands of hardships and hardships are still strong, and ren'er's east, west, south, and north winds." "Bamboo strives to be upstream, constantly enterprising, and brave to climb the peak, which means the faster, higher and stronger Olympic sports spirit, representing the upward and good struggle and fighting spirit; and in ancient times, there was the friendship of Jinlan and the friendship of Jinlan, and the orchid in Chinese's eyes implied understanding, cohesion and unity, representing friendship and unity in the Olympic spirit; chrysanthemums have represented the Olympic spirit of indifference, rigidity, purity and integrity since ancient times, implying the Olympic spirit of light, fairness, justice and integrity. At the same time, Spring Orchid, Summer Bamboo, Autumn Chrysanthemum, and Winter Plum correspond to the twenty-four solar terms of the four seasons of the year in Chinese culture: the prosperous spring, the summer when the bamboo dew drops clearly, the autumn when the sky is as cool as water at night, and the plum blossoms first take advantage of the winter that is cold, representing the time cycle of the year, and also representing the way people get along with nature.
