This year marks the 140th anniversary of Mr. Lu Xun's birth, and the Guangzhou Opera House's opening drama "Diary of a Madman" will be staged twice on February 19 and 20. The drama is directed by Christian Lupa, and many powerful actors such as Yan Nan, Wang Xuebing, Mei Ting, Tao Hai, Wang Wenna and so on are fully interpreted.
On May 15, 1918, New Youth, Volume IV, No. 5, published a novel signed "Lu Xun", "Diary of a Madman". "Diary of a Madman" is like a cry from Lu Xun in the face of China a hundred years ago. This classic work of cross-epochal significance in the history of Chinese literature reveals the "cannibalistic" nature of feudal etiquette through the image of the persecuted "madman" and the self-narrative description of "madman", expresses Mr. Lu Xun's resistance to China's feudal culture with feudal etiquette as the main connotation, and also pins his expectations on future Chinese society.
The drama "Diary of a Madman" is the second part of a trilogy of Chinese stories directed by Christian Lupa, the "giant of the European theater", after "Alcoholic Mo Fei". Lupa is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 13th European Theatre Awards and one of the three most important directors of the Twentieth Century in the Polish theatre scene.
On the basis of interpreting the original work, Lu Pa's "Diary of a Madman" directed by Lu Pa expands and extends it in combination with many works of Mr. Lu Xun. With the expression of multimedia and reality blending, across the dimensions and time and space, the secret of the "madman" experience is unfolded, leading the audience into an unprecedented "Lu Xun universe".
It is reported that as the closing drama of the Fifth Lao She Drama Festival and the opening drama of the Aranya Theater Festival, the play has toured in Shanghai, Suzhou, Changsha, Shaoxing, Nanjing and other places, and has become a cultural event that has aroused heated discussion among domestic audiences and scholars.
