Garner was loaned to Nottingham Forest this season, his second consecutive season on loan. Last season, Garner, nicknamed "New Carrick", first joined Watford, moved to Forest in the winter window, and played well, so the team renewed the loan to Manchester United for a year.

This season, Ghana has still performed well, contributing 1 goal and 2 assists so far. Recently, in the fourth round of the FA Cup, Ghana helped Nottingham Forest from the Championship to knock out defending champions Leicester City 4-1, and he delivered an assist. Garner's performance was well received and Arsenal star Martin Gion advised United to recall him as soon as possible.

United insisted on renewing their contract with the expiring England midfielder before leasing out to Ghana, which currently runs until 2024. According to the Manchester Evening News, due to Andreas Pereira's imminent permanent transfer to Brazilian flamenco, midfielders such as Pogba, Mata, Jesse Lingard and Van der Beek also have a great chance to leave the team this summer. Coupled with Nemanja Matic's age, Garner feels capable of competing for a manchester United first-team spot, so he does not plan to rent out again.

Although Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who named Ghana as the "next card god", and his benchmark predecessor Carrick, have left Manchester United this season, Ghana is confident in his ability to at least be a rotating player.

Interestingly, both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carrick have been in the spotlight of the British media this weekend as they travelled to Ipswich Torpswich to watch their former coaching partner Kieran McKenna play at the same time as United's Premier League clash against Burnley.

McKenna is now in charge of League One, with his Ipswich led against bottom-out Doncaster, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carrick witnessing a 1-0 win over the team, the sixth of mcKenna's eight games since he took charge in December. However, Ipswich only finished 9th, six points behind the promotion play-off zone.

Meanwhile, a spy photo circulating on a social networking site shows that Manchester United may wear a new home shirt with a white collar next season. If true, this would be the first time United have used a collared shirt since Moyes's 2013/14 season. In the 1990s, when "Kings" Cantona played, Manchester United's shirts all had collars, because the signature image of the French legend was to put up the collar in the game. But after his retirement, United rarely used a shirt with a collar.
