A trip to the Beijing Winter Olympics by a "Swiss Ski Comedian"

A young man wearing a red bodysuit with the Swiss flag printed on his chest "rushed" all the way to the Beijing Winter Olympics and recorded the journey in a short video. In addition to the ecstasy, his COVID-19 test was positive, but fortunately it has now turned negative for more than a week.

The videos he shot were exaggerated and interesting, and the plot was reversed at one point, appearing on many short video platforms during the Spring Festival. People began to affectionately call him "Swiss ski comedian", but outside of "comedian", he was passionate about his profession - snowboarding. This is his second time in the Winter Olympics, and he has been to Beijing many times before.

On February 7, the Beijing News "Earth Wire" interviewed the "comedian" - Swiss snowboarder Nicholas Huber. In the interview, he highly praised the organization of the Beijing Winter Olympics and expressed his love for Beijing many times. "It's a great honor to be liked by Chinese"

Beijing News: Your video is very popular on Chinese social media, and some netizens call you a "Swiss ski comedian". What do you think of the title? Did you think the video would "catch fire" in China?

Nicholas Huber: I love being creative and doing all kinds of videos. I had a lot of time to think during the quarantine and had some ideas for shooting a video, so I took it.

To be honest, I didn't expect Chinese netizens to like my videos. At that time, the video was made to show it to my relatives, friends and Swiss followers. But it's great to be liked by Chinese, and I feel honored. Bringing joy to more people is also my original intention in making videos.

Beijing News: Do you like Beijing? Is this your first time in Beijing?

Nicholas Huber: I love Beijing! I come from a sparsely populated country, and I am impressed by the vitality and diversity of Beijing. I will definitely return to Beijing in the future! This is not my first time in Beijing, I have been to Beijing as an athlete for two AIR &STYLE events, and I had a lot of fun at that time!

Beijing News: What are your plans for the next few days?

Nicholas Huber: We're going to Beijing the day after tomorrow (Huber is now in Zhangjiakou). My second event is the men's big jump in snowboarding, and I will prepare well for my second race and fight hard, and now I am very much looking forward to it.

(At 13:30 on Monday, February 14, Huber will participate in the Snowboard Men's JumpIng Qualifier at the Beijing Shougang Ski Jump)

"I will try to bring more positive energy to everyone!"

Beijing News: When did you start to contact ice and snow sports?

Nicholas Huber: When I was about two or three years old, my parents took me to Corvatsch in St Moritz, where I was taught to ski. I started snowboarding when I was 12 years old. The freedom I feel in the mountains, outdoors, skiing and the quality of time with friends makes me love this sport very much!

(St. Moritz, Switzerland, has hosted the Winter Olympics twice and is the cradle of alpine winter tourism, with 350 kilometers of ski runs for winter sports enthusiasts.) )

Beijing News: What is your career plan? Will I continue to compete at the Winter Olympics?

Nicholas Huber: I love my career and my life so much that I don't trade anything else in the world for it. So I'm going to try to keep it going. My goal now is to participate in the Winter Olympics in Italy in 4 years.

I'm 27 years old and snowboarding is not easy, and it's a sport for young people with lots of young snowboarders. But I believe that as long as I take good care of my body and try to recover, I can continue to do it.

Beijing News: This may be a "stereotype", but not all Swiss people can play ice and snow?

Nicholas Huber: To some extent, ice and snow sports are really popular in Switzerland. I am grateful that I can grow up in Switzerland and have the opportunity to get involved in skiing. But not everyone loves ice and snow sports, which is still expensive in Switzerland and I hope all Swiss people have the opportunity to ski.

Beijing News: Do you want to say anything to the Chinese audience that follows you?

Nicholas Huber: First of all, thank you very much for following me. I am delighted to be able to share this journey with you. I will try to bring you fun, sports-related content and bring you more positive energy (Good vibes). I want everyone to be positive about life and do what you want with 100% energy!
