Recently, the Beijing Winter Olympics mascot "Ice Pier" is on fire! The limited edition gold "ice pier" is even more popular on the Internet, becoming the "top stream". It is reported that the ceramic version of the "ice pier" and the ceramic version of the winter Paralympic mascot "Xue Rongrong" are produced in Dehua County, Quanzhou, Fujian Province, the "hometown of Chinese ceramics".
It is understood that each piece of "ice pier" and "snow rongrong" is handmade by Dehua ceramic masters. As soon as the mascot was launched, Dehua's ceramic enterprises immediately designed according to the sample draft, and sampled dozens of times back and forth to ensure that the quality and appearance were in line with the original design. Because ceramics are easily limited by physical effects in the production process, in the molding stage, the head and feet of the mascot are prone to fracture and cracking, after repeated communication and experiments, the samples of "ice pier" and "snow rongrong" have passed the audit of the Olympic Committee and entered standardized production.
Dehua is one of the three ancient porcelain capitals in China, and the firing technology of Dehua porcelain has been passed down for thousands of years. Dehua ceramics were an important export commodity of the "Maritime Silk Road" as early as the Song and Yuan dynasties. Today, Dehua is China's largest production and export base of Western craft porcelain, and is also the "World Ceramic Capital", with porcelain sold to more than 190 countries and regions in the world.
