The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Manual is an important medium to present the content and process of the opening ceremony to the audience and international guests, and is also the core carrier that perfectly presents the Olympic etiquette and Chinese style. The manual was designed by the team of Professor Xia Xiaoqi of Beijing Institute of Printing.
Beijing Institute of Printing and Printing gave full play to the role of the creative base for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games, led by Professor Xia Xiaoqi, director of the Publication Design Research Office of the Humanities and Future Innovation Design Center, led by the team, and the "Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Manual" printed by alumnus Artron Culture Group was distributed to the distinguished guests and the audience at the opening ceremony. The design of the manual is based on director Zhang Yimou's overall positioning of the opening ceremony "imagery, ethereal, romantic, science and technology", contains the unique charm of Chinese culture, adheres to the concept and method of modern design, and gives traditional aesthetic concepts and artistic styles innovative design connotations.
In terms of overall design style, the team integrates the concise and bright modern design style with the "simple style" of traditional Chinese art, focusing on the core visual images of ice and snow, sunshine, sports, reunion, wonderful, fairness, safety, etc., creating an ethereal mood and the beauty of virtual reality, which not only tells the past and future urban style of Beijing's "City of The Double Olympics", but also highlights the meteorological atmosphere of China's innovative culture in the new era. This Winter Olympics coincides with the re-spread of the global new crown epidemic, the team highlighted the creative theme of "warm winter sun" in the overall design concept of the manual, in the color tone of ice and snow blue, integrated into the warm sunshine, aiming to let ice and snow athletes from all over the world feel a kind of warmth in the competition and see the hope of overcoming difficulties and defeating the epidemic, as well as the good wishes of "going to the future together".
The manual adopts high-tech and high-level printing technology and process standards, and the selection of paper must fully realize the design effect, but also to meet the comfort of the audience wearing gloves in the cold climate conditions; in addition to the process of stamping, UV, bulging and other processes that emphasize visual quality, in addition to the printing process, special consideration is also given to the details of high temperature killing in strict compliance with the relevant provisions of epidemic prevention and control.
