On February 4, at the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympic Games held at the Beijing National Stadium, hydrogen provided by Sinopec Yanshan Petrochemical Company (hereinafter referred to as "Yanshan Petrochemical") lit the main torch of the stadium as fuel. This is the first time that hydrogen has been used as a torch fuel in the Winter Olympic Games, truly realizing the combination of the Olympic spirit and green and environmental protection.
The reporter learned from Yanshan Petrochemical that in order to ensure the supply of hydrogen for the main torch of the Winter Olympics, Yanshan Petrochemical has set up a hydrogen support group for the main torch of the Winter Olympics, and has formulated a detailed work plan and safeguard measures from all aspects of hydrogen filling, testing, transportation support, etc., to ensure the high quality and safety of the hydrogen supplied.

In order to reduce pollutant emissions, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles were also used extensively during the event. It is reported that as the official strategic cooperation project between Sinopec and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Yanshan Petrochemical Hydrogen New Energy Plant was delivered in the middle of January 2, 2020, and achieved a successful start-up on March 27, with a design scale of 2,000 standard cubic meters per hour, aiming to provide guarantee for hydrogen for hydrogen fuel cell vehicles during the Winter Olympics. In January 2021, Yanshan Petrochemical achieved mass production of battery hydrogen.

It is reported that since the first shipment of hydrogen for Yanshan Petrochemical batteries on December 16, 2020, it has supplied more than 290 tons of fuel cell hydrogen to the market, which has effectively guaranteed the hydrogen demand for the Beijing Winter Olympics.
