Torchbearer Wu Jingyu: The Great Wall is glorious to pass the torch The Winter Olympics let the world feel China's inclusive hospitality

In an interview with Beijing Daily, Wu Jingyu, the 29-stick torchbearer who participated in the Winter Olympic Torch Relay at the Badaling Great Wall, looked forward to feeling the fresh atmosphere brought by the Winter Olympics. As the first female athlete in history to participate in the Olympic Taekwondo Competition four times, Wu Jingyu won the gold medal in the women's 49 kg category of taekwondo at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the gold medal in the women's 49 kg category of taekwondo at the London Olympic Games in 2012. Today, she serves on the Athletes' Committee of the World Taekwondo Federation and vice president of the Chinese Taekwondo Association.

– The feeling of being an athlete to a torchbearer

You can enjoy the atmosphere of the Winter Olympics more calmly, which is a different feeling than before. Winning the gold medal was the most glorious moment of my sports career, and as a sports worker, although I participated as a torchbearer and an audience this time, I still felt that I was in it.

——The feeling of torch relay on the Badaling Great Wall

Linking the "Spring Festival", "Great Wall" and "Winter Olympics" can be described as "time, place, and people", especially the Winter Olympics will be held during the Spring Festival, as the most important traditional festival in China, at this point in time, athletes around the world can feel our inclusive, united and hospitable cultural atmosphere. As a cultural treasure of the Chinese nation, it is a very glorious thing that the Great Wall can relay on such a great building. In addition to conveying cultural connotations, the torch relay also conveys a sense of hope and faith, especially in the new challenges that are still raging in the current global epidemic.

——Expectations for the Winter Olympics

Both then and now, I am looking forward to the Olympic Games. In the past, as an athlete, I expected every Chinese athlete to show his level without regret and let the world feel the improvement of China's competitive level. As an association administrator, I hope that during the Winter Olympics, I can show the level of China's event organization and show the prosperity of the country.
