At the torch relay site of Beijing Winter Olympic Park, the first torchbearer was Wang Meng, coach of the Heilongjiang Provincial Ice Training Center.
"There are many Olympic champions and world champions on the mainland, and it is my good fortune to have the opportunity to participate in the torch relay." Wang Meng was also a beijing Olympic torchbearer before. "I have more expectations for the winter project, and this time the torch is in my hand, and I feel more heavy mission and responsibility." She said.
For this Year's Beijing Winter Olympics, Wang Meng wishes Chinese ice and snow athletes good results, and she also hopes that the public will not only pay attention to the "ace division" of the Chinese short track speed skating team, but also pay more attention to relatively unpopular projects. In her view, the mainland ice and snow sports have made great progress in recent years, the Chinese delegation has achieved full-project participation for the first time, and the steel frame snowmobile athlete Zhao Dan will serve as the standard-bearer of the Chinese sports delegation at the Beijing Winter Olympics, and more ice and snow sports are worth looking forward to.
Wang Meng said that in recent years, she has transmitted sports knowledge and sportsmanship through new media communication, recording programs and other ways, and she hopes that through her own efforts, more people will like and participate in ice and snow sports.
It is understood that Wang Meng is the women's 500m champion of short track speed skating at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, and the women's 500m, 1000m and 3000m relay champion of the short track speed skating at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, and the first "triple crown" in the history of Chinese short track. So far, Wang Meng is China's most gold medalist in the Winter Olympics.
