Chen Jieru, a docent of Jiaxing Majiabang Museum, introduced that this land was originally called "Nanhu Township of Jiaxing City", and there is a village here, which is Majiabang Village.

In the early spring of 1959, the villagers of Majiabang Village were engaged in agricultural production, and some people excavated a large number of corrupt animal bones, and the archaeological team rushed to the scene, and after half a month of rescue excavations, a new site with thirty tombs and the remains of a house was discovered, and people were amazed. However, at that time, technology was limited, and excavations were suspended in order to protect the ruins. It wasn't until fifty years later, in 2009, that the second excavation began, this time with an even more significant discovery, when the team found the remains of human cultivation of rice seven thousand years ago in the southwest of the site.

Chen Jieru told everyone that they found two varieties of japonica rice and indica rice from the carbonized rice grains unearthed, indicating that seven thousand years ago, the ancestors of the Jiangnan region had begun to cultivate rice artificially.
