On January 30, 2022, on the occasion of the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger, Li Houqiang, Tang Jiqiang, Jiao Weixia, Liu Shoupei, Sheng Jianwu, Xiao Xianjin, Zhu Zhangyi, Li Jie, Jiao Taki Tianyi and many other well-known experts and scholars in Sichuan held a seminar through online video conference, proposing that in view of the particularity and importance of Sanxingdui, the "Sanxingdui Science" should be established as soon as possible, and unanimously agreed to establish the "SanxingduiOlogy" Preparatory Group first. There have also been some domestic scholars, such as the Sichuan scholar Zhao Dianzeng, who have put forward the same view.
At the seminar, the participating experts and scholars conducted in-depth discussions on the historical background, cultural origin, singularity, mystery, uniqueness and importance of Sanxingdui in China and the world, and put forward relevant basic concepts, basic principles, main research methods and research contents.
Sanxingdui is China's Sanxingdui, but also the world's Sanxingdui, China's cultural heritage, but also the world's cultural heritage. Sanxingdui is a great crystallization of human wisdom and a masterpiece of art and science, which has had an extremely profound impact on the formation and development of Chinese culture, and its rich cultural heritage provides strong evidence for the cultural traditions that have disappeared.
In recent years, a large number of important cultural relics have been excavated and discovered in Sanxingdui, showing great archaeological potential and academic research value. The excavations in 2021 have once again proved that Sanxingdui is a huge cultural treasure house, and the surprises to the world are far from over. Some experts estimate that the area that has been excavated is less than one-thousandth of the total area, and there may be a huge treasure from Sanxingdui to the Jinsha site. In particular, the bizarre and exaggerated shapes of the cultural relics unearthed at Sanxingdui, as well as the source of materials, design ideas, technical processes and the extinction of words, have not yet been convincingly explained. For Sanxingdui, the existing disciplines seem to be pale, so a new discipline based on interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary research based on complex science should be established - Sanxingduiology.
"Sanxingdui Science" is a comprehensive discipline that studies the geography, history, culture, art, beliefs, archaeology and its impact on the world, which has transcended China's national boundaries and is expected to become a world-wide eminent science. The recent main research content of the Sanxingdui Preparatory Group includes the restoration, identification, classification and chemical, physical, biological, philosophical, legal and other aspects of the excavated cultural relics, focusing on the study of breakthroughs in the development context, manufacturer, successor, reason, function and other problems of Sanxingdui, and to prove that Sanxingdui culture is an important part of the pluralistic integration of Chinese culture, a great creation of the Chinese nation, firm cultural self-confidence and national self-confidence, showing Chinese strength and Chinese style.
