Emma Roberts' journey hasn't always been smooth.

The actress, who began her career as a child star and later entered the world of Ryan Murphy with Scream Queen and American Horror Story, revealed her life in Hollywood in the latest cover story of British Tatler magazine and became a new mom.

The actress and producer spoke frankly about how the industry gave her cheeky face, how she found her strength, and her dream of her 1-year-old son Rhodes, which she shared with ex-boyfriend Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund. Earlier this month, the two broke up.

"I felt so much rejection at such a young age that it formed a thick layer of skin around me," Roberts' aunt, the legendary Julia Roberts, said of her resilience to survive in the industry. "If I started acting at the age of 20, the rejection would be even more profound. When you're 12 years old, the whole process still has this magical miracle, and when things don't go well later on, you think it's a profound reflection of you. ”

"I didn't realize at the time that I could control my own life," she explains. "I've always wanted to be involved in [film and TV] projects in a more creative way, and now I'm doing that. I can decide who I want to be with, how long I stay, and in what capacity. ”

Growing up, Roberts always wanted to be a mom. But that dream was threatened when she was diagnosed with endometriosis, which affects fertility.

For years, her male doctors didn't examine her symptoms. It wasn't until she decided to find a female doctor that she felt valued and was eventually diagnosed.
