In the 2017-18 season, Kunlun Hongxing Club, which is preparing talents for the Beijing Winter Olympics, called Ye Jinguang, Jian'an, Luo Jia and many other overseas Chinese players from the North American system into the squad, and they put on the "dragon robe" and began to compete in the KHL League. On August 22, 2017, Ye Jinguang scored a key goal for his first appearance for the team. In his first season, he scored 18 points with injuries and showed his outstanding skills.

On November 3, 2021, Kunlun Hongxing defeated Sochi 3-1. In the last quarter, Ye Jinguang sent an assist to let his teammate score the winning goal. It was his 100th point in the KHL. Lao Ye became the first attacker in the history of Kunlun Hongxing and the first professional league "100 king" in the history of Chinese ice hockey.
