After BOE, iPhone or add Chinese brands, Huaxing Optoelectronics plans to break into Apple's supply chain

As the world's most influential consumer electronics manufacturer, Apple's requirements for suppliers are also the most stringent, if it can break into Apple's supply chain, it will not only bring huge growth in performance, but also mean that the quality of the supplier's products has been at the forefront of the industry.

Previously, the panel manufacturer BOE from China had supplied the screen for the Apple Watch, but it failed Apple's evaluation when it tried to supply the iPhone many times. Finally, last year, BOE officially entered the iPhone supply chain and supplied OLED screens for iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and other models.

Today, there is another Chinese panel manufacturer that wants to go down the same path as BOE, and he is China's second largest panel manufacturer, Huaxing Optoelectronics. According to South Korean media reports, Huaxing Optoelectronics has recently set up a research group to evaluate the possibility of breaking into the iPhone supply chain.

At present, Huaxing Optoelectronics has supplied OLED panels to mobile phone brands including Xiaomi and Samsung, if this time can successfully win Apple's orders, then in the Apple OLED market is expected to form a situation of Sino-Korean rivalry, for the domestic panel industry will also be a major positive.

According to Apple's newly released TOP 200 supplier list, in 2020, 12 manufacturers from Chinese mainland entered the list, which is the region with the largest number of new manufacturers. If you count the Hong Kong-funded enterprises whose production lines and main business have moved to the mainland, this number will reach 48, surpassing 38 in the United States and 33 in Japan.

However, many "fruit chain" companies also have hidden dangers such as low profit margins and excessive dependence on Apple, and OFILM, which was kicked out of the supply chain by Apple last year, is a typical example. Therefore, even if it successfully enters the "fruit chain", manufacturers should continue to strive to improve their hard power, expand their business scope, and pursue core technology as the ultimate goal.
