According to the British "Daily Star" reported on January 25, Michael Leigh-Mallory, a 52-year-old man in the United Kingdom, accidentally found a gold coin engraved with Henry III in the field, and finally sold a high price of 540,000 pounds (about 4.6 million yuan) at the London Spink Father and Son Auction House, plus the total value of the auction fee was 650,000 pounds (about 5.5 million yuan).

According to the Independent, on September 26 last year, Michael used a metal detector to explore the coin from a field, shared it on Facebook and immediately attracted the attention of connoisseur Gregory Edmund.

Edmund quickly contacted the father of two, saying the gold coin was very rare, dating back to the mid-13th century, and its importance was self-evident.

It is reported that the front of the precious coin is printed with the head of King Henry III, the English monarch who reigned from 1216 to 1272, and the other side is printed with a long cross and rose.

However, it was not until the British Museum further evaluated the coin that it was fully understood how rare it was, and it is said that only seven henry III gold coins are currently known.

Spink's senior numismaticist Edmund explains, "A coin is something that has a very short lifespan. It was an experiment the king made in an emergency when he had to pay money to activists in Wales. ”

The numismatic expert also believes that this is the most expensive coin unearthed in the UK and the most important coin discovery in the UK in 15 years.

Michael, who became rich overnight, said that he wanted to leave the money for the children, after all, it was the children's encouragement that made him restart the hobby, and the children were the inspiration for him to go out and explore.
