On April 20, lugong market issued a notice that the sale of sample coins will be strictly prohibited. Shanghai Lugong, one of the largest numismatic markets in China, issued a notice this time, should have received instructions from the superior. It is also likely to mean that in the future, the sample currency will be more tightened and directly banned.
So what are sample coins and how do they flow out?
Precious sample coins
Sample coins exist in almost all coins, including paper money, coins, commemorative coins, etc., but they are very precious due to their scarcity and rare outflow.
Strictly speaking, the sample coin is not a coin and cannot be circulated, it is just an internal tool and standard sample to test the quality of the coin printing and to identify the authenticity of the coin. In the Measures for the Administration of Sample Coins, it is clearly mentioned that the circulation and trading of sample coins is prohibited.
However, due to the lack of strict management in the early days, there were a large number of sample coins flowing out of the market, ranging from one version of coins to five versions of coins, and various commemorative coins and commemorative banknotes were also repeatedly displayed at major auctions.
In general, the older the coin, the more samples flow out, sometimes even more than normal banknotes. For example, the sample coins in a version of the coin are extremely common, so the collection value is lower than the normal version of the coin.
In the five editions of coins, the sample coins became difficult due to outflow, resulting in a surge in collection value, and a single coin could easily reach tens of thousands. The sample coins in the four editions of the coin can also sit on the throne of the coin king.
In addition to circulating coins, the sample coins in commemorative coins are even rarer, so they also have a higher collection value.
How the sample money flows out
In the 1990s, there were major institutional reforms and business adjustments in various banks, during which various loopholes appeared in the management of sample coins, which led to a large number of early samples flowing into the market.
At the same time, sample coins are commonly used tools in banks, there are more contacts, and the management is not particularly in place, so until the beginning of the 20th century, there were still five versions of sample coins flowing out from time to time.
This phenomenon did not begin to be curbed until after 2006. In December of that year, the Measures for the Administration of Rmb Sample Coins were promulgated, which strictly managed the sample coins, so it is almost impossible to see the new version of the RMB sample currency now.
However, the promulgation of this measure has also led to a sharp rise in the collection value of the five-edition currency sample coins, and any one of them has exceeded 30,000, and its performance has far exceeded that of the fourth edition of the coin.
The ban is very reasonable
In recent years, various circulating coins have been banned, and the management of the market has become more standardized. The fact that the sample coin was notified of the ban can be said to be expected. These illegal outflows of sample coins do need to be banned.
After the ban, it will definitely affect the collection value of various sample coins. But fortunately, this kind of "coin" has nothing to do with us ordinary people.
