Young teachers and students of Anhui Agricultural University "cocoon" out of the Chinese red

China Youth Daily client news (Zhou Xiaoxuan, China Youth Daily, China Youth Network reporter Wang Haihan Wang Lei) "too realistic, as if it is a real flower" "What is this made of, I have never seen such a beautiful landscape painting"... In recent days, in front of the auditorium square of Anhui Agricultural University, a series of cocoon artworks and paper-cut works have attracted students to stop. Teachers and students of the school use silkworm cocoons to create art paintings to celebrate the National Day.

The works of the "National Day Silkworm Cocoon Art Exhibition" were created by the teachers and students of the "Cocoon Art" Studio of the School of Textile Engineering and Art of the university using cocoon and paper-cutting technology.

At first, the instructor Qi Yanyan came up with an idea - to paint with silkworm cocoons to celebrate the birthday of the motherland. This idea was thrown out and got a positive response from the students. The idea is good, but the creative process is a bit tortuous. "It's rare to paint with silkworm cocoons, and we're also 'crossing the river by feeling the stones.'" Qi Yanyan said.

Selection of cocoons, dyeing cocoons, drawing, fixing colors... Each step needs to be slowly explored. A cocoon has to be peeled off a dozen pieces, there is no tool available, only a little bit of tearing by hand. In order to make the color of the work more full and more layered, the dyeing of silkworm cocoons often has to go through many experiments.

What Qi Yanyan did not expect was that although the process was hard, the students did not complain a little, in addition to the class, everyone soaked in the studio, "What moved me even more was the deep family and national conditions of contemporary college students." Teachers and students have created more than 40 works, which take revolutionary culture and red elements as the main line, integrate the spirit of Jinggangshan, the spirit of Yan'an, and the spirit of Dabie Mountain into artistic creation, and guide young students to inherit the red gene.

Another instructor, Li Zhe, introduced that each work was designed and created after carefully consulting historical materials and fully understanding the real historical events and deeds of martyrs.

The work "Ode to Yan'an" amazed many viewers, and in order to create this work, teachers and students spent nearly 2 months. Wang Huijun said that after consulting a large number of historical materials in the early stage, his heart was shocked, and the creative process was a baptism of thought.
