In May 2021, Douyin launched the "Elder Mode" to optimize the product, including page font size, contrast and touch area, etc., to solve the problems of the elderly who cannot see clearly and are not easy to use. "Elder Mode" adapts to the main usage scenarios, pages and pop-up windows of Douyin, and users can open it in "I-Settings-Elders Mode".

According to the "2021 Douyin Silver Age Social Responsibility Report", Douyin provides new tools for the elderly to obtain knowledge, social entertainment, and show themselves, 63.7% of elderly users believe that short videos add fun to life, and 25.2% think that short videos are convenient for them to "pay attention to the dynamics of friends and interact with friends".

In addition, the first batch of apps that passed the ageing and accessibility level evaluation, including Ant Group's Alipay, Baidu Map and Baidu Map "Caring Edition", Tencent Maps "Caring Edition" and other APPS also passed the test.

In fact, on November 10, 2021, Alibaba, Kuaishou, Tencent and other eight platforms jointly established the "Information Accessibility Technology and Intellectual Property Rights Open Working Group", which opened 28 patents involving "suitable for the elderly and assisting the disabled" free of charge, and promoted the opening up of technologies in the field of ageing and accessibility.

With the development and penetration of the Internet, the elderly group has become an important part of the Internet people's group, and public data shows that in the distribution of the age structure of domestic netizens, users aged 60 and above account for 10.3%.

Since 2021, from payment, social networking, to travel, catering, mobile App aging transformation progress continues to accelerate, including Tencent, Ali, Baidu, Byte, Jingdong and other large factories have launched unique functions for the elderly group, the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed that at present, 104 websites and Apps across the country have initially completed the aging transformation and achieved phased results.

This time, many apps under Byte, Ali, Tencent and Baidu passed the test, which can be said to be a result of the Internet manufacturer's opening up to the Internet ecology. Since september last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology asked Tencent to liberate the external link, interconnection and ecological openness have been in a continuous process. These actions carried out by these Internet giants and the opening up of the Internet ecology to more user groups have essentially assumed more empowering social roles.
