If you want to repair a fossil, you need to observe the structure and form of the fossil under the microscope, and then use the pneumatic pen to slowly repair and peel off the surrounding rock to expose its own appearance. Li Zhouqiang said: "Sometimes when encountering fossils that are difficult to repair, 7 to 8 hours may only be able to repair about 1 centimeter. ”

The fossils listed in the restoration room have different forms and different years, Li Zhouqiang told reporters that the degree of preservation of each fossil is very different, some fossils have been weathered to be relatively fragile, and it is necessary for the conservator to concentrate on restoration in a relatively quiet environment, and sometimes even need to wear earplugs. Moreover, every 1 to 2 hours of repairing fossils under the microscope, he would give his eyes a break to avoid mistakes in his work.
Li Zhouqiang recalled that when he first started, although he had a certain foundation in painting, a fossil of less than 30 centimeters was enough to repair for a month. Although he deals with cold fossils every day, in this "boring" work, Li Zhouqiang believes that this feeling of passing on hundreds of millions of years of "living organisms" is very wonderful, which fascinates him.
He also told reporters that the fossil work of the Provincial Geological Museum was carried out in Xingyi and Guiyang, there were more than 20 restorers, and now there are about 3,000 fossil specimens in the museum, mainly from Guanling, Xingyi and other places, in addition to tourists to see, will also be provided to scientific research institutions. Among them, the giant sea lily exhibited in the prologue hall is the largest and most complete preserved sea lily fossil found in the country, with an area of up to 106 square meters and a weight of 25 tons.
