The first issue of "Telling the Ancients" was led by Chen Zehong and Leng Dong, two historians, who told the story of Sino-foreign trade and cultural exchanges that took place in Huangpu, Guangzhou, and led the audience to appreciate the millennium Hai Silk Culture.
Huangpu Port is one of the starting ports of China's ancient Maritime Silk Road, and it is also the only foreign trade port in China in the late Qing Dynasty, and it is the ancient "Southern Grand Port" that deserves its name. It is still one of the largest comprehensive foreign trade hub ports in South China that realizes transport business with more than 300 ports in more than 80 countries and regions in the world.
"If you use the tone of storytelling, it is called 'there is no Guangzhou, there is Huangpu first.'" Chen Zehong believes that geography determines the trajectory of history to a large extent, and Huangpu Port is located in the geometric center of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, which is the confluence of the three rivers. "This factor was very important when the ancient people chose Guangzhou City, 'first there was Huangpu, then there was Guangzhou' is not a mouthful."
"Huangpu is an important core hub of Guangzhou Port and occupies an important position in international business and cultural exchange activities." Lengdong described the trade development of Huangpu with Portugal, Spain and other countries in the maritime era from seven dimensions, including the historical background, management system, Chinese and foreign merchants, economic and trade, cultural exchanges, rare documents, and development planning.
Speaking of ancient halls requires professional talking about the ancients. At present, Guangzhou Huangpu District has set up a professional team of "talking about the ancients", including historians, cadres of organs (including old cadres), active or retired teachers, entrepreneurs, township sages, retired soldiers, etc. In addition, the "speaking of the ancients" team will also sink to the grass-roots level, and the village community "speaking the ancients", the school "talking about the ancients", and the enterprise "talking about the ancients" team will be set up successively, ensuring that each village (community) has at least 1 "speaking of the ancients" and each school has at least 2 "speaking of the ancients".
Huangpu Ancient Hall opens up the "offline" + "online" platform, making full use of the Huangpu Pulpit, Fang Zhi Guan (Fang Zhi Station), Party and Mass Service Center, New Era Civilization Practice Center (Institute, Station, Point), Library and Branch Library, Park, School and other places, and with the help of online platforms such as the "Go to Huangpu" App and related new media, string beads into a chain.
On the same day, the Huangpu Ancient Hall hired 9 district-level "speaking ancients". As one of the nine selected people, Tu Minyan, a lecturer at the Party Building Research Department of the Party School of the Huangpu District Party Committee of Guangzhou, said that Huangpu has rich historical and cultural resources such as Yuyun Academy, Huangpu Military Academy, and Nanhai Temple, and is very proud to be able to tell these histories as an ancient speaker. In the future, I hope to dig up more stories here through the platform of telling the ancient hall, inherit the history and culture, red genes, and stimulate the enthusiasm of party members and cadres for entrepreneurship.
