Three-quarters zone 27 seed Collins and French veteran Coney advanced to the quarterfinals. Collins swept through the first two rounds of the tournament, and in both the third and fourth rounds she reversed this year to win. Konei eliminated three seeded players, Muguruza, Zidansek and Halep, and played in 63 Grand Slams to reach the quarterfinals for the first time.
Four-quarters Zone 7 seeds Sviatek and Canepi made the top eight. Sviatek swept the first three rounds of matches to win easily, and in the fourth set against Costia, she reversed the victory, reaching the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam for the third time in her career and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open for the first time. Veteran Canepi eliminated No. 2 seed Sabalenka after three hard sets to reach the quarterfinals of the Australian Open for the first time in his career.
