"Typhoon Club" is a film about third-graders in rural middle school. The boys and girls in a class have all kinds of thoughts and feelings, and soon after a typhoon finally made these hidden feelings erupt. I played the role of a math teacher named Mei Gong, the head teacher of this class. The film was filmed in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture. The film crew rented a house, and everyone lived there like a training camp. The cast consisted of Terada and Tatsugo Tsurumi, few adults, and the rest were children, including Yuki Kudo and Yuka Onishi, who were unknown at the time.
Director Xiangmi's directing method is very peculiar, always rehearsing on the spot. He is a director known for shooting "long shots", so in order to be able to shoot a picture at once, he had to rehearse repeatedly. The main purpose of the rehearsal is to make the whole cast change from the people in the text story to the living people in reality. "Typhoon Club" is full of important characters, and the children have no acting experience, so the live rehearsal is particularly strenuous and takes more time. The characteristics of the Shomi camera crew are that at the beginning of the live shooting, there is no lighting or positioning of the camera. Rehearsals continue until the director is satisfied, literally from morning to night. "Okay, let's get the shot official now!" By the time the director said this, it was getting dark. There were also several occasions when the official shooting was dragged to the next day. At that time, I drank every night and talked to people while drinking, but the topic was not acting and movies, and now I can't remember what I was talking about.
Every night, the children followed the instructions of the assistant director to write a diary, turning themselves into characters, and writing a diary with the mood of the characters. Once, during a rehearsal, I was called away by the director and sat in a nearby car together, and the shooting was terminated. Many years later, a member of the film crew asked me, "Mr. Miura, at that time, you and the director were locked in the car for two hours and didn't come out. "Because there was really nothing special at the time, I couldn't answer." During the rehearsal, the director did not give any detailed hints. He just watched, and sometimes said to the little child, "This fool," but not a roar, just a voice that expressed shock, and that was it. He neither says," "You act like this," nor "You change this way," but just pushes you away and lets you think for yourself.
In my memory, such a scene is clearly left. During the class, the teaching staff went to the classroom to call the teacher played by me, and after the scene was rehearsed several times, the director approached me and said, "Don't look back when you were just called, even the way to turn back is Tomokazu Miura." He muttered and left. He was accusing me, but I didn't know how to respond. After a while, I subconsciously realized that there was something in my heart that could not be described as a shape. Up to that point, I was unconsciously bound by Tomoyuki Miura and this idol. Whether it's performing with my wife or me alone, it's a product of being in the "star system." There are stars before there are films tailored for them, and I don't deny the system itself, but I'm too deep in it.
I have a negative attitude towards myself as a youth idol, but in the star system, I arbitrarily position myself as a youth idol. It was I who created an image of "youth star Yuwa Miura", and then I was tied up by this image. But I'm married now, over thirty years old, and no longer a "youth star." How do you go down? I was confused and couldn't find a way out of this confusion, so I stopped moving forward and could only continue to carry the "youth star Miura Yuwa" on my back.
