"People in the world always say, don't just focus on what's in front of you, but since the spring, I've been busy planting irrigated eggplants, lentils, cucumbers, and I'm so preoccupied with what's in front of me that I'm ninety-six years old before I know it." Compared with being knowledgeable, living so short-sighted and avoiding some unnecessary troubles is not a bad thing, which is probably the secret of longevity! ”
When you see such words, everyone must think that it is said by some kind of idyllic philosopher. If you think so, you are wrong, it is what Grandma Mei said in the Japanese movie "The Message of Amitabha Hall". This philosophy of life came out of the mouth of an ordinary grandmother, and I had the urge to watch this movie in its entirety.
The story of Grandma Mei lives in a small mountain village in Shinshu, Japan. The four seasons there are solemn and beautiful, as if they are a paradise. Wooden huts, shrines, idyllic streams, isolated from the world, the people here live peacefully and carefreely. Grandma Mei lives in the Amitabha Hall, which is where the village enshrines the gods and ancestral tablets.
Everyone's life is different. The characters in the film are no exception: careers, interests, etc. are different, but there is an invisible hand that binds them together:
First, dissatisfaction with the past
Several important characters who appear in the film face a similar problem: disease. Or physically, or mentally, or healed, or known to the outcome.
Her husband, Takao, is a well-known fiction writer who won the "Best New Author Award" when he first debuted, but in the following decade he never achieved any achievements in his works.
His wife, Michiko, is a skilled specialist. She strives to achieve perfection in everything in her work, and constantly realizes the ideal of life of curing diseases and saving people. But in the face of the patient's life disappeared one by one, so that her heart was full of powerlessness, accidental abortion, so that she lost enthusiasm for life, and eventually suffered from anxiety disorder, relying on sleeping pills to fall asleep.
Little Lily is a very simple and beautiful girl, and she is also one of the few young people who stay in the village. She was unable to speak at first, and then found that there was a problem with her lungs and that she needed surgery, but the chance of success was only 50%.
Takao's teacher was diagnosed with stomach cancer, and there was not much time left. He chose to abandon treatment and return to his hometown to complete his last journey.
Second, cherish the present
After Xiaofu returned to the village, although he was ridiculed by the villagers for not being famous and relying on his wife to eat soft food, he still took over the free work of delivering newspapers to the villagers. Every time I went to a house, I would make small talk with others, provide help within my ability, accompany left-behind children to play games, help the elderly plant seedlings, and live a very full life.
Michiko went to work at the village health center, because of the anxiety disorder, she only went to the clinic in one or three or five, the work was relatively relaxed, idle to cook tea and read, looking at the flowers, watching the sunset cooking smoke, leaving the fast pace of the big city, her anxiety was also controlled.
Lily was calm about her situation from beginning to end. Unable to speak, she wrote with a pen. Believe that your illness can be cured.
Takao's teacher is more optimistic. "Don't give trouble to others, always give convenience to others and don't ask for anything in return" is his motto. He was committed to being a good person and donated all his books to the school.
Grandma Mei's words in the film, I think it contains the truth of life:
"The rain does not look down, the wind does not bend down, and it is not afraid of winter snow and summer heat." No greed, never anger, smiling. Eat four bowls of white rice every day, plus radish vegetables, so that there is no dispute with the world. See, listen, understand without forgetting, in the shade of the pine forest, living in a small grass hut, don't be afraid, don't worry, don't take a walk in the summer when it's not hot. ”
From the Amitabha message, we can understand that people live without having to search for what they live for, nor are they confused by what is in front of them. Learning to be content, living in the moment, and enjoying life is the most important thing for people to live.
Third, full of expectations for the future
People's life can not be calm, experiencing strong winds and waves is inevitable, choosing to escape is not the best solution, bravely face, in order to meet new hope.
Michiko, fearing Sayuri's illness, returned to Tokyo again, overcame her obstacles, picked up a scalpel that had been placed for a long time, and performed a successful operation on Sayuri. Lily's surgery was successful, she also rekindled hope, and the anxiety disorder was completely gone.
At the end of the film, Takao's teacher dies quietly, and Michiko is pregnant with the baby again. This may be the true meaning of life.
Life never deliberately owes anyone, it gives you a shadow, and it will surely cast sunshine not far away.
Give yourself time, don't be anxious, step by step, day by day. Please believe that the resilience of life is amazing, cooperate with your upward heart, and do not give up the love for yourself.
Living with the heart, being at ease with the encounter, and rejoicing in the heart is the purpose of living.
Finally, at the end of a poem that I read in the film, I also want to be that kind of person.
"Not defeated to the wind, not defeated to the rain, not defeated by the cold and heat, with a strong body, no desire, never angry, always laughing quietly, not counting oneself in everything, always watching and listening, understanding and understanding, and then, bearing in mind, if there are sick children in the east, go to take care of them carefully, if there is a tired mother in the west, go to help her carry the rice, if there is a dying person in the south, go to comfort him not to be afraid, if there is a quarrel and lawsuit in the north, go and tell them not to quarrel over such a boring thing, the dry season, Sad and weeping for the world, cold summer season, anxious to run for the world, called a fool by everyone, not praised by people for performance, nor bitter, I, just hope to become such a person. ”
