King of the Castle: a magnificent holiday home overlooking the coast

At 5 p.m., the large double gates of Manorbier Castle in Pembroke close and the castle ceases to be open to the public, but those lucky enough to rent Victorian cottages here can stay inside.

The witch's hat-like castle and rolling lawns make for a sense of comfort and seclusion.

Manorbier Castle, overlooking the beach and the sea, has beautiful villages, with its medieval church just outside the castle gates.

Built in the 12th century, the castle is one of a series of spectacular Norman castles in Pembrokeshire.

The holiday home can accommodate 12 people and rents for £2,299 a week.

In addition, there are Carew, Picton and Pembroke Castles.

Be sure to visit St David's, The UK's most charming chapel, built of lovely purple Caer Bwdy stone, and you can also see it on the cliffs of nearby Caer Bwdy Bay.

Lovely long beach lines in Broadhaven and Freshwater West, managed and protected by the National Trusteeship Association. Nice Barafundle beach, between two headlands, which is also a paradise for birds.

Every summer, thousands of doves with beautiful black and white feathers nest on Stack Rocks.

Bird watching with day trips to Skomer Island. In addition to the doves, you'll also find knife-billed puffins.

With two beaches and a cliff castle, the Tenby area is a stylish resort with classical terraced houses overlooking Caldey Island.
