On April 8, 2014, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovakia, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in China held a cultural exchange activity "Taste of Slovakia" at the Swissotel Hotel in Beijing Hong Kong and Macau Center from April 7 to 11. Yang Mingyi, a famous Chinese ink painter from Jiangnan Water Town, exhibited his ink paintings as a special guest. Tan Hui, the host of the culture, art and collection column of "Qi Hui Zhai Tibetan Dialect", also received an invitation letter from the Slovak Embassy.

As early as May 10, 2012, the Slovak Ambassador to China František invited Mr. Yang Mingyi to attend the grand opening ceremony of the "Slovak Beijing Art Museum", and the two saw each other at first sight. Mr. Yang Mingyi's romantic alleys, alleys, ancient bridges, as well as the beautiful and chic green bricks, dewa, small bridges and flowing water people's Jiangnan water town style, brought František a complete impression of China, Ambassador František was deeply attracted by Yang Mingyi's unique paintings, and invited Yang Mingyi to hold exhibitions in the embassy for many times. Among them, František especially liked Yang Mingyi's "Hundred Bridges Map", and repeatedly invited Yang Mingyi to paint bridges in Eastern Europe, and he believed that Yang Mingyi's "Bridge of East and West" would definitely sensationalize the world.
In 2013, Yang Mingyi finally fulfilled his contract to go to Slovakia, after learning about the local history, culture, customs and customs and experiencing life, he put his understanding of Slovakia and used his decades of accumulation of pen and ink to fully display the essence of two completely different Chinese and Western cultures, which made František shoot the case.

The sunrise of the water town that quietly opens brings people spirit, hope and strength; the bright moon in the south of the river, the spring drizzle, the green mountains outside the mountains, the vast sea of smoke, especially beautiful, giving it poetic and picturesque; the spring color of the alleys and the ancient bridges of the water town have many historical and cultural traces. Mr. Yang Mingyi's exhibition is not only exquisite, but also has a strong and unique taste.
Although the scale of the exhibition is not large, a total of 21 paintings by Mr. Yang Mingyi are exhibited, but they are very exquisite. The paintings include Mr. Yang Mingyi's masterpieces of various types and periods, and they have a unique and rich taste. The exhibition, titled "Taste of Slovakia", was hosted by Slovakia, one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with China. "The exhibition has the scenery of my hometown of Suzhou, as well as the scenery of foreign countries. In particular, this time I have created four pictures of Slovakia and two bridges of Jiangnan. I hope that my work will become a bridge of friendship between China and Slovakia. Mr. Yang Mingyi said.

Yang Mingyi has a different insight and sensitivity to things, and he can grasp the commonalities between Slovakia and China's long history – culture and art.
Yang Mingyi admits that he grew up in Suzhou, a place known as the "Venice of the East", and devoted his life to painting the water town of Jiangnan, which contains a very strong Chinese mother tongue culture. Slovakia is a small country with a long culture and history, typically representing Western culture. He believes that the cultures of the East and the West have a lot in common in the theme of water towns, and there are many landscapes in Slovakia that are very similar to water towns, very poetic, very elegant, and the artistic style is very close.

From Mr. Yang Mingyi's sketch "Old Street" in Sri Lanka, we can feel that the gothic quiet town is glowing with culture, and there seems to be a faint sound of history in the depths of the old street. The old street in the painting is so old-fashioned and so luxurious. On this old street, Yang Mingyi found that every pavement stone here is hand-polished, the stones are square, and although the bottom is uneven, the stone surface is smooth and delicate, and a heart for tradition is hidden in it.
A landscape painting of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, stands out in particular. The painting, titled Pearl on the Danube, is full of romance. In the work, Yang Mingyi skillfully blends the delicate color of the sky with Chinese ink splashing, and under the sky, Yang Mingyi uses Chinese painting pigments to paint opaque, close to the effect of oil painting, which is particularly strong under the background of ink color, and this painting of Chinese and Western fusion hit the hearts of hundreds of Slovaks who visited the exhibition.

The large and small bluestone paved Jiangnan path, the ancient bridge with various shapes and history, and the deep and curved and graceful alley are full of life and poetry in Yang Mingyi's pen. In the United States, he used the bridge to pin his thoughts on his hometown, and after returning to China, he truly poured his love for the motherland and his hometown on rice paper. This time, Yang Mingyi's "Taste of Slovakia" exhibition reflects an international dialogue and people-to-people exchanges.

Chinese ink painting is the treasure of world art, Yang Mingyi has always believed so, and his dedication and exploration of ink painting is his unremitting pursuit. Only by taking root in the nation can we face the world, and only by injecting the national spirit into the aesthetic connotation can we organically integrate multiculturalism in ink. "His work is delicate, subtle and pure and timeless in the grand narrative." Feng Yuan, vice chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, who came to congratulate this exhibition, commented on his works.
