Laura Kraute's partner Baloutinue helped Team USA win a silver medal in the team event at the Tokyo Olympics, one of Kraut's highlights of 2021. In early 2021, Kraut began training and racing with Balutinue, winning a three-star grand prix with a prize money of $137,000 at the Winter Equestrian Festival was the first they've won since their partner. Representing the United States in the Five-Star Nations Cup in Rome, they helped the team finish fifth, and in the subsequent five-star 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix they finished second.

In 2021, Kraut was successfully shortlisted for the U.S. team's Tokyo Olympics, the third time in his career to represent the United States in the Olympic Games, and helped the team win the silver medal in the team competition. It is worth mentioning that with this silver medal, Claut has also become the oldest female athlete to win medals in the history of the United States Olympic Games since 1904. In the 2021 World Equestrian Festival Mercedes-Benz National Cup in Aachen, they represented the United States team to help the United States team follow 2005, after 16 years, once again involved in the team championship. They finished fifth at the subsequent Five-Star 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix in Aachen.
