1. Number of patients
From January to November 2021, the total number of medical and health institutions in the country was 6.05 billion (excluding the data of clinics, infirmaries and village clinics), an increase of 22.4% year-on-year.
Hospitals visited 3.80 billion person-times, an increase of 27.8% year-on-year, of which: public hospitals 3.22 billion person-times, an increase of 28.3% year-on-year; private hospitals 580 million person-times, an increase of 24.8%.
There were 1.95 billion person-times in primary medical and health institutions (excluding clinics, infirmaries, and village clinic data), an increase of 13.9% year-on-year, of which: 730 million person-times in community health service centers (stations), an increase of 17.3% year-on-year; 1.02 billion person-times in township health centers, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year.
2. Number of discharges
From January to November 2021, the number of people discharged from medical and health institutions nationwide was 222.065 million, an increase of 8.0% year-on-year.
Hospitals numbered 181.470 million, an increase of 10.4% year-on-year, of which: public hospitals had 148.355 million people, an increase of 11.1%; private hospitals had 33.115 million people, an increase of 7.6% year-on-year.
There were 31.808 million people in primary medical and health institutions, down 2.8% year-on-year.
3. Hospital bed usage
From January to November 2021, the hospital bed utilization rate was 75.1%, an increase of 2.5 percentage points year-on-year; the community health service center was 43.5%, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8 percentage points; and the township health center was 50.0%, a year-on-year decrease of 2.4 percentage points. The average length of stay in tertiary hospitals was 8.7 days, a decrease of 0.4 days from the same period last year, and the average number of days of hospital stay in tertiary hospitals was 9.0 days, an increase of 0.1 days over the same period last year.
