He participated in the shanghai workers' armed uprising three times and was the vice president of the first branch of the Shanghai Concession Tram Union. After the mysterious disappearance, the wife looked around, and did not find any news of him until his death, and the son and grandson repeatedly sought help from the relevant departments, but they all got no reply from this person. It wasn't until 78 years later that his retired grandson learned his identity online. He was an agent led by Premier Zhou, a right-hand man of the founding general Chen Geng and a partner of a double-sided spy, Yang Dengying. He was an important umbrella for the party's underground workers, but his name was little known. He was Lian Desheng, a revolutionary who had devoted his life to the country but could not return home.
On September 10, 1969, the old lady Chen Sanfa was sick and dying. There was still one unfulfilled wish in her heart, and that was to find her husband, Lian Desheng. She married Lian Desheng in Shanghai, had two sons and a daughter, and lived a happy life, but her husband was an underground party member, always very busy, and had no time to go home, but Chen Sanfa did not complain, because she knew that her husband was doing great things and was a great person.
But in 1931, her husband mysteriously disappeared and sent a letter from Hong Kong, saying only that he was in a safe place to reassure himself. And then it never came back. She had been inquiring about her husband all her life, but his husband was like evaporating in the world, and until she died, she did not find a clue, she had to entrust this matter to her children and grandchildren, and then died with regret.
This huge task was left to Lian Guangrong, the grandson of Lian Desheng. Like his grandmother and father, he inquired about the news of his grandfather for most of his life, and even found the help of the relevant departments, but the answers he got were that there was no such person. How is this possible? His own grandfather, his father's father, his grandmother's husband, turned out to be a non-existent person?
In 2008, at the age of 78, Lian Guangrong was exposed to the Internet for the first time. Hearing the children say that the Internet is amazing and search engines know everything, he typed three words into the search box for the first time. The result was amazing, he found an article, the person mentioned in it, and the grandfather in his grandmother's mouth is very similar, after some verification, even Guangrong was surprised to find that the person in this article is his grandfather!
What really happened back then? Why did Lian Desheng mysteriously disappear? Is there something hidden in between? How exactly did Lian Guangrong determine that Lian Desheng was his grandfather? Lian Guangrong knew that his grandfather Lian Desheng was born in Shangyu, Zhejiang Province, and he had lost his father at an early age and his family was poor. Since he was a child, he fled to Shanghai with his mother, and later went to shanghai British tram company as a conductor.
In the article he searched for on the Internet called "Almighty Defender", there was a member of the CCP's special branch, whose experience, occupation, and name were exactly the same as his grandfather. How can there be such a coincidence, grandma did not mention these things to outsiders, this will not be a coincidence, the Lian Desheng in this article does have his own person, and it is likely to be his grandfather. So Lian Guangrong began to study the unknown history, which found the deeds of his grandfather.
At that time, Lian Desheng was a helpful, righteous and cheerful young man, who was respected by his colleagues in the company, but in that era, ordinary people had to do their best just to live.
In 1925, Japanese spinning mills unjustifiably expelled workers, tortured child laborers, and withheld wages, which can be said to be no evil, and the workers went on strike to protest, and in the strike incident, the worker Gu Zhenghong was killed and more than a dozen workers were injured. Like the vast number of Shanghai citizens, even Desheng felt unprecedented anger. He took up arms, led and participated in the May Thirtieth Movement, founded the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, became the vice president of a branch of the Shanghai Concession Tramway Trade Union, and led strikes and protests.
The May Thirtieth Movement lasted for more than three months, and finally compensated more than 100,000 yuan with Japanese spinning mills and made new terms with the workers to settle the knot. But Lien Desheng felt that this result was not enough, and in the long run, such an incident would happen, and he understood that there was no way to overthrow imperialism by strikes and protests alone, so Lian Desheng joined the Communist Party of China and went to the Soviet Union to study that year.
In 1927, Chiang Kai-shek launched a counter-revolutionary coup, the domestic situation was tense, Lian Desheng naturally could not return to his original unit, so the Central Military Commission transferred him to the Special Branch of the Central Military Commission in 1928, serving as the deputy leader of the action team, which is commonly known as the "underground party". In the same year, the Kuomintang also set up the Party Affairs Investigation Section, the predecessor of the Central Unification, and appointed Yang Dengying as a special commissioner in Shanghai, asking him to monitor the Communist Party, and Chiang Kai-shek personally signed a letter of appointment for him.
Yang Dengying studied in Japan, read a lot of Marxist-Leninist books, was ideologically progressive, and was an iron brother with Chen Yangshan, a member of the Chinese Communist Party. Therefore, when Yang Dengying learned that he was going to become a spy, his first reaction was to seek Chen Yangshan's opinion. Under chen Yangshan's introduction, Yang Dengying became in touch with the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and became a double-sided spy, establishing a single-line connection with Chen Geng.
And the partner of our party to pass on information and cover for him was Lian Desheng. Lian Desheng disguised himself as Yang Dengying's bodyguard and driver, his identity is not high or low, he can naturally act closely with Yang Dengying, and can also secretly spy on the news. In this way, the two became action partners.
On August 24, 1929, our party was holding a meeting in a secret place, but it was suddenly discovered by the French Concession patrol house and arrested several party members who were holding a meeting at that time. The reason why the secret place is called a secret place is, of course, because it is secret, and there is no reason why the patrol houses in the French Concession can be found so casually, obviously they are known in advance, so the occurrence of this incident is an obvious signal that there are traitors within our Party.
Therefore, Lian Desheng immediately began to investigate, inquired about the news, and finally pulled out the traitor Bai Xin. Bai Xin was once a member of the Communist Party of China, and he knew the consequences of his rebellion, and he had long been preparing to flee abroad, but he did not expect that his situation would be clearly understood by Lian Desheng so quickly. At the Xinghualou Hotel on Shanghai's Fourth Road, Chen Geng and Lian Desheng met here, and Lian Desheng gave Bai Xin's intelligence and interrogation, and put forward a bold idea, that is, he personally killed him.
Because he was now a person of the Central Unity, there was always a way to get close to Bai Xin. But Chen Geng resolutely refused, Lian Desheng was an important lurker, even if Bai Xin escaped, it was much better than the identity of Lian Desheng and Yang Dengying to be exposed. But Lian Desheng could not be a spectator, he got a large revolver gun to ensure that the special agents could hit a single blow in the follow-up operations, and found out that Bai Xin would set off on November 11 to abscond.
That morning, a gunshot near Bai Xin's residence ended the traitor's sinful life. Like Bai Xin, Lian Desheng solved many traitors to our party and the Kuomintang arranged in the eyes of our party, greatly killing the prestige of the central unification, protecting the safety of the personnel of our party's underground organizations, and his work performance cannot be described as inactive. But in 1931, he mysteriously disappeared and never returned. What's going on?
It turned out that in this year, Gu Shunchang, Lian Desheng's direct superior and leader of the Central Special Science Action Team, was arrested in an operation and defected. Without severe torture or coercion, he easily handed over the intelligence of the underground party in Wuhan and Shanghai to the Kuomintang, resulting in the almost total destruction of the CCP's underground organization, and even Premier Zhou almost died.
In order to ensure the safety of the remnants of the central government's secret organization, the central organs were quickly transferred, and Lian Desheng was transferred to the revolutionary base area in Gannan Province. He had no way to tell his family anything, but to send a letter while passing through Hong Kong to reassure the family. In this way, Lian Desheng "mysteriously disappeared" in the eyes of his wife and children. With Gu Shunchang's defection, our party's underground organization was severely damaged, and the Kuomintang began to encircle and suppress our party inhumanely; after the failure of the fifth anti-encirclement and suppression operation, the main red army of the central authorities began the Long March, while Lian Desheng was ordered to stay in Gannan and continue to break through.
On March 4, 1935, Lian Desheng and a group of organ personnel and the Red Army broke through to Xinfeng, and suddenly encountered an ambush by the Kuomintang army. At that time, the enemy was outnumbered, but Lian Desheng still led the fighters to stubbornly resist, and even repelled many enemy attacks. But there were too many enemies, and as if they could not finish fighting, they repelled wave after wave of enemies, but they still saw no hope of breaking through.
On 6 March, the battle lasted for two full days, the ammunition ran out, the soldiers were killed and wounded, but finally, a small number of soldiers broke out, and Lian Desheng was unfortunately captured by the enemy. Unlike Gu Shunchang, Lian Desheng was already ready to sacrifice for the revolution, so whether it was torture or coercion and inducement, it was useless to him.
He wrote only one sentence: "I join the Communist Party and obey everything at the disposal of the Party." On March 21, 1935, after half a month of inhuman torture by the Kuomintang, Lian Desheng was dragged to the execution ground. In the face of death, Lian Desheng did not have the slightest fear, and shouted over and over again: "Down with the reactionaries, long live the Chinese Communist Party!" Since then, Lien Tak Sang has sacrificed his precious life, this year, he was only 42 years old.
The information he left behind is too little, and decades have passed, and even the country has almost no information about him. After Lian Guangrong learned of his grandfather's deeds, he immediately applied to the state to posthumously recognize Lian Desheng as a martyr. Subsequently, the Ministry of State Security went to Shangyu, Zhejiang, and Ganzhou, Jiangxi, to verify the information, and on December 31, 2009, officially recognized Lian Desheng as a martyr. In March 2011, the Shangyu Municipal People's Government built the Tomb of the Martyr Lian Desheng, and on this day, the unsung hero who had been wandering all his life finally returned home.
On the long journey of the founding of New China, I don't know how many such people's heroes with no name may still be known, but their deeds will always remain in history, and their spirit will always be inherited by us. Every step we take in our strides forward is the best reward for the revolutionary martyrs.
