On January 20, the work report of the Guangdong Provincial Government made it clear that Dongguan's GDP exceeded one trillion yuan, becoming the fourth city in Guangdong after Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan with a GDP of more than one trillion yuan, and also becoming the 15th "double million city" with a GDP of more than one trillion yuan and a population of more than 10 million.
Dongguan's GDP exceeded one trillion yuan, and the advanced manufacturing industry contributed to it. Dongguan takes the construction of the Guangdong Manufacturing Supply-side Structural Reform innovation experimental zone as the starting point and bravely becomes the leader of the high-quality development of Guangdong prefecture-level cities. In the past five years, GDP has spanned four major steps of 700 billion, 800 billion, 900 billion and trillion; the number of industrial enterprises on the regulation exceeds 11,000, ranking second in the country; new kinetic energy accelerates growth, and the output value of emerging industries such as integrated circuits and key components, intelligent equipment manufacturing, strategic frontier materials, and biopharmaceuticals increased by 19.7%, 21.1%, 44% and 34.4% respectively last year.
The increasingly strong scientific and technological innovation strength has become a new engine for the development of Dongguan. The national strategy empowers Dongguan, and Songshan Lake Science City is included in the pilot launch area of the comprehensive national science center in the Greater Bay Area. Last year, The proportion of R&D in Dongguan increased to 3.54%, ranking seventh in the country; the number of national high-tech enterprises is expected to reach 7387, ranking second among prefecture-level cities in the country; and the comprehensive competitiveness of scientific and technological innovation has advanced to the top 20 cities in the country and the third among prefecture-level cities in the country.
Dongguan has practiced the new development concept and deepened reform and opening up with remarkable results. Dongguan regards participation in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as the "program" of reform and opening up in the new era, and builds strategic platforms such as Songshan Lake Science City and Marina Bay New Area; makes every effort to dock the "twin-city linkage" and takes the initiative to integrate and develop with the Guangzhou and Shenzhen metropolitan areas; builds a new open economic system, with the total import and export volume of foreign trade exceeding 1.5 trillion yuan, ranking among the top five in the country; the reform of the municipal directly managed town system is committed to breaking the problem of resource fragmentation, intensive land use, commercial system reform, and stabilization of the basic foreign trade plan, and has been repeatedly encouraged by the State Council.
In the future, Dongguan will base itself on the new starting point of "double ten thousand", focus on scientific and technological innovation and advanced manufacturing, strive to accelerate high-quality development of the economy at the new starting point of trillion yuan, achieve deep integration and symbiosis and common prosperity between tens of millions of people and cities, and strive to exceed 1.4 trillion yuan in total GDP within five years.
"Dongguan's GDP has exceeded one trillion yuan, which is very exciting!" Wang Weihua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, said that in the early days, Dongguan relied on the introduction of technology from abroad, and now the ability of independent scientific and technological innovation is getting stronger and stronger, and the quality and efficiency of manufacturing development are constantly improving. It is hoped that Dongguan will continue to adhere to the "scientific and technological innovation + advanced manufacturing", introduce more high-tech enterprises, key scientific research platforms and high-end talents, and strive to be at the forefront of the world in scientific and technological innovation and advanced manufacturing.
