Meishan, an obscure hill in the hilly area of central Shucheng County, winds along the shores of Wanfo Lake, which is praised by Hong Kong's Ta Kung Pao as the "Pearl of Jianghuai". Meishan in the hometown

"The mountain is not high, but the immortal is named." According to the Records of Shucheng County, according to legend, in the late Western Han Dynasty, Mei Fu, the Taishou of Jiujiang County (a Lieutenant of Nanchang), was a clean and honest official, and because he was dissatisfied with the reality of the imperial court, he resigned his official position and did not do it, and came here (that is, Meishan) to live in seclusion, cultivate and practice Dan, treat the diseases of the mountain people, and also do many beneficial things for the local people. In his later years, legend has it that he became an immortal because of his cultivation, and later generations called him Mei Xian, and the local people of Meishan, in order to thank Mei Fu for doing so many good things for them, built the Mei Xian Temple in the place where he lived in seclusion (that is, now Meishan) to commemorate it. It is rumored that this temple green brick Daiwa, simple and elegant, ? Between the pines and cypresses. Many good men and women in the vicinity have come here, burning incense and kneeling, and the meixian temple morning bell and twilight drum are at its peak. Unfortunately, this temple was later destroyed in the war, and although the descendants rebuilt the temple on the original site, the incense was not strong, and the door was not strong. Over time, people called the mountain where Mei Fu lived in seclusion "Mei Mountain".

Meishan is also known for its "Meishan Xiaoyan", one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Gulongshu. Meishan is located on the north shore of Wanfo Lake, which is not only cliff-like, rocky and crashing on the shore, but also has a deep but not very long mountain stream on the side of the lake. At dawn, as the daytime temperature gradually rises, the water vapor of Wanfo Lake will slowly rise along the mountain stream until it reaches the Meixian Temple at the top of the mountain. Especially on foggy days, water vapor mixed with fog hovers among the pines and cypresses near the Meixian Temple, gradually spreading throughout the Meishan Mountain. From a distance, it is hazy, like smoke and fog; in it, the fog is steaming, like entering a fairyland. The view continued until late afternoon, when the temperature dropped sharply and the mist and water vapor swept down the mountain stream, at which point the mountain became clearer and clearer. People call this unique landscape "Meishan Xiaoyan". Today's Meishan with the development of Wanfo Lake tourism, it is particularly graceful, more charming and moving, Meishan, spring, a hundred flowers bloom, a hundred birds singing; summer, thousands of trees, streams babbling; autumn, colorful leaves, geese fly south; winter, all kinds of lonely, silver wrapped. Friend! No matter when you come here, Meishan will always make you marvel and make you linger.

Meishan also has a glorious revolutionary tradition. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the county seat of Shucheng fell, and the anti-Japanese soldiers and civilians of Shucheng retreated here and insisted on anti-Japanese activities. Meixian Temple in Meishan was once the distribution place of Shucheng's "Anti-Japanese War Daily", actively propagating anti-Japanese ideas, making it once a cultural position for Shucheng County to publicize anti-Japanese resistance. During the Liberation War, it was also used as a battlefield for the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, and there are still traces of war, and the Gong'e Ridge in Meishan has the trenches and shell casings that can be seen everywhere.

"One side feeds the other with water and soil". In the past, they relied on reclamation, logging, hunting, digging medicine and mushroom picking in Meishan to survive, and now, they have built economic forests (planting oil tea, chestnuts, flowers, etc.) and various poultry breeding in Meishan, and at the same time engaged in tourism economic development, embarked on the road of becoming rich and well-off.

Meishan in the hometown

I am a child who grew up at the foot of Meishan Mountain, and for the peasant children who lived here like me as a child, Meishan became a paradise for us when we were young. Herding cattle and sheep, catching butterflies, catching clams, catching knowledge, flying kites, picking wild fruits... Tired of playing, the little friends lie on the soft grass, watching the blue sky and white clouds, listening to the spring water not far away, the birds chirping; tasting various wild fruits; breathing in the fragrance of flowers; more leisurely, more comfortable! Occasionally, when we sweated, our friends would swim together in Wanfo Lake, and Meishan brought endless fun to our childhood. Meishan, accompanied me through an unforgettable childhood, teenager. To this day, when I think of my hometown, I think of meishan in my hometown. At this time, I can't help but ask in my heart: Meishan, I have been absent for a long time! Don't come unscathed?
