Six-time British Open champion Evans forced the match into the decider with a 33-pointer in the sixth set. When Ben had the chance to win the title in the decider, Evans lost the powder ball to leave the opportunity to Wangharuthai. The victory was the 22-year-old Wangharuthai's first victory at the Women's British Open. Wangharute's victory also meant that for the first time since the 2007/08 season, the first three ranking titles of the women's snooker tour season were divided between three different players. This season, Evans took the lead in winning the Women's British Championship, followed by Wu Anyi at the Women's Masters late last year, with three different champions representing the growing competition on the women's tour.

Wangharutai beat Jasmin Polsova and Jamie Hunter to reach the semifinals. In a fierce semi-final, Wanghalutai defeated world number four Rebecca Kenner 4-2. Evans, on the other hand, conceded just one set in three games against Aimee Benn and Maria Catalano and Emma Parker, and was in pretty hot form.

The competition in the final turned out to be quite fierce, with Wangharuthai leading three times and Evans equalizing three times, coming to the decider Wanghalutai to win the championship with a difficult 57:46 victory.
