Previously, the three "trillion yuan club" cities in Guangdong were Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Foshan.
Since the reform and opening up, Dongguan has always adhered to the establishment of a manufacturing city, seized every round of industrial opportunities, and gradually developed from a traditional agricultural county into an international manufacturing city, known as the "world's factory". Up to now, Dongguan has more than 190,000 industrial enterprises, which is one of the cities with the densest manufacturing industry in the country.
In the past 2021, Dongguan has aimed at GDP of more than one trillion yuan, and its economic operation has been better than expected, especially in the face of two rounds of local new crown pneumonia epidemic, Dongguan has overcome difficulties and successfully controlled the spread of the epidemic in the short term, making the economic operation stable and rising, becoming a city with a regional GDP of more than one trillion yuan and a population of more than 10 million, and the per capita gdp of the region has reached the level of a high-income economy.
According to Dongguan Mayor Lu Chengqi, this year Dongguan City has placed the digital economy in a prominent position of top priority. According to the "Policies and Measures of the Dongguan Municipal People's Government on Promoting the High-quality Development of the Digital Economy" officially released recently, Dongguan City has arranged financial funds of not less than 10 billion yuan in three years to promote industrial digitalization and digital industrialization, and fully promote the high-quality development of the digital economy; Dongguan will lead more than 150,000 small and medium-sized industrial enterprises to achieve cloud reduction and quality improvement, and the scale of dongguan's digital economy core industries is expected to exceed 1.3 trillion yuan.
