Background: The "Water Lilies" group painting is a mature series of Monet's works in his later years, and it has further achieved his name as an Impressionist master. In 1883, Monet, then in his forties, after the death of his wife, moved to Giverny, a quiet town on the outskirts of Paris, to make a living painting. Seven years later, he received a sum of money from Paul, a long-time buyer of his works, and after buying the house and the courtyard, he began to take care of his garden and dug an artificial pond and planted a pool of water lilies. At first, he only admired water lilies, but then he gradually developed the impulse to create - "the spirits in the pool appeared in front of my eyes, I raised the palette", and such a series of water lilies paintings were born, and water lilies became the subject of his paintings in his later years.

Description: This group of paintings depicts Monet's water lilies in Gwyne's garden, which took most of Monet's later years and was painted during Monet's cataract. The first works were presented in the gallery of Diurand-Ruhe in Paris in May 1909.

Artistic features: In Monet's "Water Lilies", it is not so much that he uses color to express the water lilies of nature, but rather that he uses water lilies to express the colors of nature. The critic Vadoi commented: "None of his early paintings can be compared with these incredible water landscapes, because they grasp the spring and leave it on earth." The water in the painting is light blue, sometimes like a solution of gold, and on the unpredictable green water surface, reflecting the sky and the shore of the pond and the light and bright water lilies blooming on these reflections. There is an inner beauty in these paintings, which combines shape and idealism, bringing his paintings closer to music and poetry. ”

Later influences: Water lily pond is Monet's experience of oriental art to transform into garden construction, Nihonbashi, bamboo forest are elements of Japanese gardens, however, Monet still insists that garden design is from visual needs, the flowers and grasses by the pool are still planted in strict accordance with the seasons of the four seasons and the height of the plants; and the plants by the water lily pond can reflect through the reflection of the water surface to create a dreamy atmosphere. Nowadays, these water lily paintings are scattered in various major art galleries and museums around the world, and the works that flow to the market are also purchased and treasured by collectors from all over the world. #Art Painting Sharing ##油画 #
