Let's talk about airports and stations with double names

author:Mileage Book

When you're away from home, a station or airport usually represents a destination, which is the name of the neighboring city.

Airports in accordance with international practice generally use "city name" + "airport name" to name, foreign countries like to use characters to name airports, such as Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport CDG, New York JFK Airport JFK, three character code is directly the abbreviation of the person.

However, there is no custom of naming airports with personal names in China, generally "city names" plus "the names of the districts, counties or townships or villages where the airports are located". For example, Shijiazhuang Zhengding Airport (Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City), Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport (Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou), Nanjing Lukou Airport (Lukou Street, Jiangning District, Nanjing), Ningbo Lishe Airport (Lishe Village, Shiqi Street, Haishu District, Ningbo City) and so on.

Wenzhou Yongqiang Airport was renamed Wenzhou Longwan Airport, and Zhuhai Sanzao Airport was renamed Zhuhai Jinwan Airport, both of which replaced the name of the town level with the name of the district level.

The airport is located in three famous forts: Urumqi Diwo Fort, Guiyang Longdong Fort, Xining Caojiabao, four suburbs: Jiamusi Eastern Suburb, Mianyang Southern Suburb, Manzhouli Western Suburb, Luoyang Northern Suburb.

The Provisions on the Permit for the Use of Civil Airports require that the name of the transport airport should be composed of the name of the specific place where the airport is located with the name of the city (or place, state) where the airport is located, and it is not the same as other existing airports, and the use of homophones is avoided.

However, this regulation is not strictly enforced, for example, in order to promote local tourist attractions, many cities directly use "city name" plus "local well-known scenic spots" to name, such as Anshun Huangguoshu Airport, Anqing Tianzhu Mountain Airport, Xinzhou Wutaishan Airport, Tianshui Maijishan Airport and so on. In addition, Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport can also be counted as such a combination, because Jiuzhai is a place name, and Huanglong is also a scenic spot.

However, it should be noted that the above airports are quite far away from the scenic spot without exception. The closest to scenic spots in China are Wuyishan Airport and Chongqing Fairy Mountain Airport.

Jining Qufu Airport is not on the territory of Qufu City under the jurisdiction of Jining, and Qufu is also a scenic spot name here. Heze Peony Airport is not in the Peony District, but Peony is the local business card.

At Kuqa Guizi Airport in Xinjiang, "Guizi" is the historical name of Kucha, pronounced "qiū cí".

Zunyi Moutai Airport can also be understood as a local town called Maotai, and Yibin Wuliangye Airport is said to be the village where the airport is located, it is called Wuliangye Village, too coincidental, right?

Another example is Beijing Capital Airport, which is not a place name, but can be considered as an additional meaning of the city name.

As more and more cities in the country have airports, it is not new for several neighboring cities to build an airport together. For example, Yangzhou Taizhou Airport in Jiangsu Province, compared with Xi'an Xianyang Airport, the provincial capital airport, Yangzhou and Taizhou are two completely equal prefecture-level cities, the airport is in Yangzhou territory, Yangzhou also accounts for the majority of the capital, so yangzhou name is in front, and the airline system directly uses "Yangzhou" as the destination name. Although this is suspected of "dwarfing" Taizhou, after all, Taizhou is not as famous as Yangzhou.

And the same in the bulk province of Wuxi Shuofang Airport, in order to serve the next door Suzhou, it should be called "Wuxi Suzhou Airport", but Suzhou people feel that the name is not happy in the back, so the compromise changed its name to Sunan Shuofang Airport. The problem is that "Southern Jiangsu" is not a specific city name, the airline system is still called Wuxi, and the printed boarding pass is also Wuxi. And the foreign guests arrived even more confused, where is "Southern Jiangsu" and where is "Shuofang"?

The newly built Xuanzhou Airport in Wuhu, Anhui Province, referred to as Wuxuan Airport. Wuhu territory, naturally is also the name of Wuhu placed in front.

In addition, there is Jieyang Chaoshan Airport in Guangdong Province, Chaoshan is not the name of a specific administrative region, but can be seen as a combination of Chaozhou and Shantou, and "Chaoshan" is also a cultural symbol, far louder than Jieyang. There is also a "Chaoshan" high-speed rail station nearby.

The airport built at the junction of Songtao County in Tongren City, Guizhou Province, and Fenghuang County, Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province (where the ancient city of Fenghuang is located) was renamed Tongren Phoenix Airport, which is a model of inter-provincial cooperation.

Let's talk about airports and stations with double names

The railway stations on the mainland have always been simple in name, that is, a single place name, and many stations in the same city are used to adding southeast, southwest, and northwest. In the early days of high-speed rail construction, local governments liked to forcibly name them with higher-level administrative districts, resulting in the story of the "four famous norths".

Yangquan North: Sunjiazhuang Town, Lu County, Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, 4 km from the county seat of Lu County, 47 km from Yangquan City.

Panjin North: Sunjia Village, Tianshui Township, Panshan County, Panjin City, Liaoning Province, 6 kilometers away from Goubangzi Town and 40 kilometers away from Panjin City.

Xiaogan North: Gaodian Township, Dawu County, Xiaogan City, Hubei Province, 10 kilometers from The county seat of Dawu County and 90 kilometers from Xiaogan City.

Shaoyang North: Pingshang Town, Xinshao County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, 54 kilometers from Shaoyang Station.

After the emergence of Hongqiao in Shanghai, Luoyang also learned to come to Luoyang Longmen, Beijing also has Beijing Chaoyang, this kind of double place name station essence is the same as the airport, the second half of the place name is only the first half of the subordinate.

But there are really two place-name stations of the same level of administrative region, which is the "Shengzhou Xinchang" station in Zhejiang Province. Located at the intersection of the newly opened Hangshaotai Intercity and the Jinyong Railway under construction, the station is in Shengzhou City, but it is less than a kilometer away from the boundary of Xinchang County. Shengzhou and Xinchang are both under the jurisdiction of Shaoxing City, and one station solves the travel problem of the people of the two counties and cities on two railways, which is more convenient!

According to official information, the station is the first asymmetrical design, vertical crossing of zero-interchange railway station in China, and it is also the first time that two counties (cities, districts) are used to name the stations in the setting of national railway station names, and it is one of the only railway stations in China that two counties and cities jointly build and share.

It should be known that multiple stations in one place are prone to running at the wrong station, and it is easier to encounter the embarrassment of missing the train and wanting to change the number of trains but at other stations.

When the people of Tianmen and Xiantao in Hubei Province see this station, will they really want to come to a "Tianmen Xiantao" station?

Finally, there is an introduction to a European airport, which is the airport on the cover of this article.

The airport is located in France, but due to its proximity to the borders of France, Switzerland and Germany, the airport has three IATA codes: BSL (Basel, Switzerland), MLH (Mulhouse, France), EAP (European Airport). The name on the terminal simply reads: European Airport - Basel - Mulhouse - Freiburg. Anyway, everyone has a bowl of water at a flat end, and there is no order of who is the main and who is secondary.
