The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is conducting a preliminary investigation into Meta's $400 million acquisition of VR company Supernatural. According to Reuters, Meta is awaiting the results of its investigation to finalize its deal with fitness-focused VR platform Supernatural, which it announced in November 2021.

Federal Trade Commission Chairman Lina Khan has made it one of its missions to ensure that big tech companies set aside the bottom line for fair play, and speculated that the details of the deal will be sorted out, as well as its impact on the larger virtual reality market that Meta (formerly Facebook) is rapidly devouring.

Last week, we reported on the year-long brain drain Microsoft experienced in its Hololens division, with about 70 of its 100 employees leaving to find a new home at Meta. Meta will need to take a convincing route with The Federal Trade Commission led by Khan as it appears to be the first VR and AR heavy metaspace to dominate what it envisions for itself.
