Intel will release an ultra-low voltage Bitcoin mining chip
Intel is likely to announce a specialized cryptocurrency mining chip at the International Solid-State Circuit Conference (ISSCC) in February. This allowed the company to compete directly with companies such as Bitmain in the Bitcoin mining ASIC market for the first time. ASICs are integrated circuit chips that are designed for specific purposes. Intel's chip is code-named "Bonanza Mine", which translates to Chinese is "rich ore".
Lao Wang comments: Today, when everyone shouts at cryptocurrency mining, Intel released such a chip, which is intriguing.
Wine 7.0 released
Wine is used to run Windows applications/games on Linux, macOS, and other platforms. Wine 7.0 converts many components to PE format, improves the theme design of built-in programs, HiDPI support for built-in applications, updated OpenCL support, support for VKD3D 1.2, updated Mono, Unicode 14 support, WinRT improvements, and a host of changes. Valve's Wine-based Proton software provides Steam Play support for Windows games on Linux and also helps Wine a lot.
Lao Wang's comments: Wine not only helped the lack of early Linux applications, but also has a very important significance today.
The preprint site ArXiv has included 2 million papers
What began as an email list of dozens of string theorists more than 30 years ago has grown to collect more than 2 million papers and become a central hub for physicists, astronomers, computer scientists, mathematicians and other researchers. For comparison, the Library of Alexandria is believed to contain no more than hundreds of thousands of manuscripts. Authors often submit manuscripts to arXiv and publish them in peer-reviewed journals, but more and more papers are being published separately on arXiv. Papers usually appear on arXiv within a day. In addition to traditional manuscripts, arXiv contains white papers, historical overviews, and even silly April Fool's day essays. By the way, ArXiv means archive, and the "X" in the name is the Greek letter chi.
Lao Wang comments: This is the temple of knowledge, compared to a domestic thesis website, tut...
