It can be seen that at that time, the title of "grandfather" referred to the father. According to some people, the "Mulan Ci" was written during the Southern and Northern Dynasties, that is to say, the title of grandfather during the Southern and Northern Dynasties of the mainland did not refer to the father's father. In recent times, some people have called some people "Zhao Ye", "Qian Ye", "Sun Ye", "Li Ye", "Fan Ye", "Zhou Ye" and so on, which is probably the title of the Manchu Qing Dynasty. It can also be seen from Lu Xun's novel "Hometown" that at the end of the Qing Dynasty, tenants called their masters also called "old masters".
Reading "Dream of the Red Chamber" can be found that there are two levels of "old master" and "grandfather" in Jia Fu, and the "big" character of "big old man" is only ranked. Jia Jing, Jia Shu, and Jia Zheng were the highest seniors in Jia Fu at that time, called Laoye, and Jia Shu was the eldest son, known as the Grand Master. This old man's title is the same as that of his wife and children. In addition to these three people, for the male masters in the Jia Mansion, the slaves must be called the third master, Uncle Zhen, Second Master Bao, Second Master of the Chain, and even Jia Huan, whom the slaves hate, must also be called the Third Master. The only exception is Baoyu, whose name can be called by slaves. This is a concession from Jia Mu, who believes that a low name is conducive to avoiding disasters. Leng Zixing is not a slave of Jia Fu, and talks about Jia Fu characters in Jia Yu Village, also known as the master of Jia Fu, probably because Leng Zixing is the son-in-law of Zhou Rui, a slave of Jia Fu.
The slave's call of the male master "master" should not be a Chinese tradition. New Book of Tang. Zheng Weiguo said Jing Yue: Why does Gong He call Wulang Qing? Jing Yue: Take the official as the secretary. Jun is not his domestic slave, He Lang's cloud? It can be seen that during the Tang Dynasty, domestic slaves called the male master "Lang". Song Jing was the prime minister of Tang Xuanzong, who was just and upright, and was known as a sage in history.
