In the UK, adult toys are recommended to users of unverified age, and Google responds that steps have been taken to address this issue

Reuters reported on January 19 that Google said it would immediately and strictly enforce the relevant policies on age-sensitive advertising. Previously, some media outlets found sex toys, alcohol and high-risk investment ads in its search engine, which should have been blocked under UK regulations.

In September 2021, the UK began enforcing regulations aimed at protecting children from online stalking. At the time, in response to the regulation, Google announced that it was taking measures to "expand the protection against the display of age-sensitive ads to teenagers."

Specifically, Google began using automated tools to prevent ads related to categories such as alcohol, gambling and prescription drugs from appearing to terminals that are not logged into a Google account or cannot prove that they are over the age of 18.

Last week, in a logged-out search interface in the UK, Reuters found leveraged trades, cholesterol drugs, adult toys and vodka ads.

Google said: "... The ad in question was mislabeled. In this case, the service should have been restricted. We have taken immediate steps to resolve this issue. ”
