As the first off-road vehicle of a Chinese brand, the BJ212 is a fond memory for generations to come. What is valuable is that the current BJ212 can still be in production, but at the moment when the car is highly modernized and technological, the performance of all aspects of the 212 is basically stuck at the level of the last century, and in the current market environment where SUVs are popular, BAIC Manufacturing is still only two backward models, the 212 and the Warrior.
After BAIC manufacturing changed owners to Qingdao Fulu, we finally saw the hope of BJ212. Recently, the exterior interior of the new generation BJ212 and some parameter information were exposed. The exterior of the new car retains the classic design elements of the current 212, including round headlights, a raised bonnet, and a front-of-the-wing through-style shape. The new front bar with recessed fog lights and the ability to see the trailer hook are noticeably more refined than the current one.
The silhouette of the side looks very close to the current square door hardtop version. The structural design of the rear has changed greatly, and finally the small opening flip-down trunk cover of the current model has been eliminated, and the real rear tailgate structure has been used, and the side-open rear tailgate is a back-mounted spare tire. The taillights are more elaborate, and the rear bar shape has been changed to a horizontal one-piece shape with silver skid panel decoration.
Judging from the information currently exposed, the new generation of BJ212 will provide a variety of appearance structure versions, of which the hard top version contains a five-door version and a three-door version, and the soft top version only provides a five-door model. In addition, the new generation of 212 will also have a pickup version.
Judging from the current design drawings, the interior of the new generation 212 will be a completely new design, and two versions have appeared. One version of the console outline is close to the Warrior's interior design, but the middle part is completely new, with an embedded center control screen and three circular gauges on the upper part. Air conditioning outlets for the rear are also provided on the rear side of the front central handrail.
The interior of the other version is obviously more retro design style, closer to the classic version of the 212 center console design, the three-frame steering wheel shape is retro, the center console has three round air conditioning outlets in the middle, and there are several small circular gauges in the upper part. The metallic round decoration of the door armrest area is chic.
In terms of dimensional data, the length, width and height of the new generation 212 are 4325, 1830, 1910 (1960) mm, and the wheelbase is 2460 mm, of which the wheelbase is still consistent with the new chassis version of the current square door hard top.
The new generation will offer three fuel-powered models, a 2.0L naturally aspirated, a 2.0T turbocharged and a 2.4T turbocharged engine. Matching the 5MT and 8AT gearboxes, it is finally possible to provide automatic transmission. The first to be listed will be the hard top version, while the soft top and pickup version will be available until 2023 and 2024 respectively.
