In the fourth year of Jingyou (1037), Bao Zheng was appointed as Tianchang (present-day Anhui) Zhi County, and in the first year of the Qing calendar (1041), he was transferred to Duan prefecture (present-day Zhaoqing, Guangdong) as ZhiQian, and in the third year of the Qing calendar (1043), he was appointed to the imperial palace of Jing, and in November of the same year, he was promoted to the position of inspector of imperial history, equivalent to the current secretary of the Central Discipline Inspection Commission. Later, in the sixth year of Jiayou (1061), he was officially promoted to deputy privy councillor, and the official Juzheng Erpin was also the highest position held by Bao Zheng. The following year, Bao Zheng died of illness.
